Ok When I first got the game wana know what my first game made was
a flood involving the mantis driven by flood.
It took me a few more games to come back to the concept but when I did the new game showed them the mantises great weakness…
Swords
when the mantis is hit by a energy sword it stutters and if hit continuously it cant even fight back.
WHY?
I don’t know and more than likely you might know this already mainly because I found this out 2 months after release. If I said it earlier I may of been the first.
oh well
Just thought Id tell y’all the mantis cant handle knives.
If you wish to play the game where I discovered this go to my FILESHARE and download CHROME THRONE the map and MACHINE KING the gametype, grab some friends, and see the twitchy idiot in a mantis get his but kicked by twigs.
(Other game types for the map include RUSTING METAL (Dominion) and
CHROME HOUNDS (Team slayer)
Wait, so you are telling me that the Sword, weilded by a normal sized Spartan can defeat a Mech?..
That’s badass!
I never noticed this, but suddenly it makes complete sense.
Mantis = Gekko
Spartan with an energy sword = Raiden
Interesting.
Similar to how Hunters can’t fight when hit by a sword constantly.
This revelation brings possibilities to so many gametypes, and big -kinda animesque in concept- badass battle sequences… I can see it already…
Game type and map with discovery posted up if your curious. Maybe you can do better with it then I can.

I lost a bet
Does the Gravity Hammer do the same thing?
If we had Golf Clubs would they also smack-down the Mantis?
Can we kill it with rocks and slings?

Gravity hammer doesn’t stun it but it only takes a few around 4 hits for it to kill it.
> im sorry did you mean metal gear rex?
No
I think the mantis is a little more gecko

Has any one done it besides me yet?
I’ll have to try this out. Still, not too surprised. The Mantis should have even more weaknesses considering how poorly constructed it seems. How does this evolve into this anyway?

I’m pretty sure the first pic is the prototype for mjolnir armor. That bulky thing eventually evolves into MC’s outfit.

The Prototype armor is called the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark I Prototype Armor Defense System, the Mantis is called the HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL Mark IX Armor Defense System.

Probably because the Mantis is cheaper and easier to mass produce. Amassing an army of HRUNTING Mark I suits would be too bad -Yoink- to fit the UNSC budget.

Most likely gameplay reasons. Watching what the Prototype could do to an army of covies is rather scary…also the resources that were required to build one. Yet couldn’t ONI use their Huragok to improve it’s design?
This is also apparent when hit by a Promethean Knight’s blade.

Maybe it was safety reasons
Remember that think has a nuke for a battery
This means they could be extremely dangerous to send out in open fields
The Downgrade was maybe to keep the power non planet threatening.

MJOLNIR also has a fusion reactor in it that can double as a makeshift nuke as well. Those weren’t much of a danger.
