Mammoth's in Multiplayer

Ever since I first saw the Mammoth in Halo 4’s E3 Gameplay last year, I’ve wanted to drive one.

It’s about three times bigger than an Elephant, filled to the brink with weapons and technology (look at that MAC Cannon!), and looks like it could crush anything in it’s path.

Aaaaaaaaaand we never got to see it besides a single Campaign mission where you just rode on it.

Fun.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed with Halo 4’s Forge and lack of vehicles whatsoever.

In Halo 3, we were able to drive the Elephant on Sandtrap, which was an awesome experience. I’m sure many players can agree that’d they’d like to relive it with something as gigantic as the Mammoth.

This time around, I see no excuses for not including the Mammoth in Forge. 343 has much more capable and improved hardware and a full team together. It would just be stupid not to put all this potential to use.

Maybe the Mammoth could even be part of a massive Invasion-like gametype, but I’d just be content to be ale to spawn that thing and drive it around a Forge World or something.

Imagine the gametypes this community could make.

Who doesn’t want Mammoth jousting, racing, or extreme offroading?

And then just think if this thing could float in water. We’d finally be able to have naval battles in Halo.

This single vehicle alone would make for incredible Custom Game experiences, so it shouldn’t be neglected or forgotten.

We need Mammoths in Halo 5 Forge!

The scale of the maps would have to be HUUUUUUUUGE. But if 343 maybe introduces a smaller Mammoth variant (Elephant?), and gives us some great maps to use it on (Sandtrap remake?) then yes, yes, and yes.

The maps would have to be way bigger for it to work.

Personally I would like to see the Elephant come back. Besides, the Mammoth’s Mac gun would be to OP in matchmaking, unless they added something bigger to combat it. (cough…Scarab…cough)

My favourite part of sandtrap where the fact that you could move the flag closer to the enemy by using the elephant, and that if you flipped it over, you got that cool easter egg. I feel like a mini-mammoth should be like what the falcon was to the hornet. An updated more balanced version of an idea.

PS: Game type idea! Place a beacon in an enemy base, at the same time of trying to get the mammoth to a location where it can shoot that base. Would be like extraction for the beacon, but when the countdown ends the Mammoth has to be at a certain spot to win.

Maybe a smaller version without the mac cannon, something between an elephant and a mammoth. Along with a sandtrap remake…

How about an objective game where each team has a Mammoth and the objective is to blow up the enemies one. The Mammoths would have the same weapons as they currently do, plus some machine gun turrets. The MAC cannot be used for whatever reason, or there could be another gametype where you have to find a power coupling needed to power the MAC, and then to destroy the enemy Mammoth using the MAC.

Sure why not, Sandtrap was so much fun ramming those things into each other and boarding one another i don’t see the down side.

Could have a gamemode where there are two teams and two mammoths and the objective is to destroy the other mammoth, they are destroyed similar to a scarab, a core on the inside

Did anyone ever hop into the driver seat of the elephant and go, I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!

I mean, I don’t have a problem with it being there. I’m just skeptical that anyone’s experience was significantly impacted by the inclusion of it.

But yeah, put everything you can in forge so long as it doesn’t negatively impact the quality of the things we will be using every day.

I know a lot of people have been talking about wanting to have 32vs32 and 64vs64 in Halo 5, and I just though, the mammoth would be perfect if the mega team battle playlist would ever come to be. Don’t you think that would be a perfect addition, and then 343i would have a reason to implement this into multiplayer.

My experience was significantly impacted by it. CTF matches with mobile bases were some of my most fun experiences in Halo 3.

New game idea: Invasion 2.0, 16 v 16 to take advantage of X1’s superior power and Halo 5’s dedicated servers. One side is UNSC with a Mammoth, the other side is Covenant with a Scarab. Objective: plant a bomb on the core of the enemy super-tank to destroy it in explosive glory.

Lagfest 2013

No, really more than two would not be able to be run on the XBO IMO.

Two… mammoths? You know the Xbox One is something like 10 times as powerful as the 360, right?

Are you sure? I’m pretty positive that the X1 could easily support more than two Mammoths, and if it doesn’t work, say hello to Cloud-Computing.

Also, when you fought the two Scarabs in Halo 3 invalidates any potential strain on the Xbox One’s hardware when it comes to fighting multiple of each.

Scarabs would be nice as well!

The maps would have to be much bigger.

I’d say just bring back the Elephant, and have it in Forge (Halo 3’s Forge’s potential would’ve jumped a lot by simply having an Elephant as an option).

Yes, I completely agree that the Elephant/Mammoth would definitely help Customs/gameplay. It would add so much to it. Invasion and Flood would hugely benefit with it.

> Scarabs would be nice as well!

The Locust from Halo Wars would give you the same thing, but much smaller and not as powerful. A lot of maps could benefit from having the Locust in them.

Having a Mammoth already sounds kinda crazy, but having a Scarab is just pushing it too far (unless Halo is going Battlefield size with its maps).

Remake Sandtrap for Halo 5, and make it bigger. Then scale down the Mammoth slightly to suit gameplay and the flow of the map (call it the Mastodon). Done.

If they’re including an Elephant type vehicle, they should make it more maneuverable.

I can see it be used in invasion like gametypes and forge.

main answer: yes

long answer: Put in the MM and forge 343
