so after playing halo 4 what do you think would win in a fight a unsc mammoth or a covenant scarab
I’m pretty sure one MAC round is enough to completely destroy a Scarab so you know my pick.
I think the mac cannon destroys the scarab.
I am pretty sure Mammoth’s MAC cannon destroying those Forerunner particle cannons counts as canon, not just gameplay mechanic. By look of it. Particle cannons look bigger than Scarab.
The mammoth would OBLITERATE the scarab. 
That MAC Cannon would open a can of whoopass and the scarab would be left crawling off a cliff to prevent the Mammoth Operator to get a 20 killstreak in one hit. 
Depends on the MAC cannon really, if the scarab could somehow manage to disable that, thenit could probably win. Otherwise, it would get wrecked.
The Scarab could probably win if it got the jump on the Mammoth and managed to disable the MAC gun. It’s a lot more maneuverable than the Mammoth too. The only real advantage the Mammoth has is the MAC gun, which would probably punch a hole right through the Scarab.
Hopefully we get to see this fight sometime in the future.
If the Scarab hit the mammoth roof with either primary weapon it is game over for the mammoth but if the mammoth got a straight shot then it would at the very least disable the thing.
It all comes down to terrain.
Is there no option for whoever has the tactical advantage? XD
The mammoth does seem better ahem “quipped” though, I mean toss a few Spartan-IVs on there and you’re good to go. XD

Scarab easily, far more agile and it doesn’t need any operators.
Mammoth needs drivers and flat terrain to move, also the mac gun needs a target designator to be fired without that it’s useless.
Also given the placement of the mac gun I’d say it would only be able to hit the scarabs anti-air gun leaving the main body farily fine and useable.

So the Mammoth. Then 343 will change it to the Scarab so it looks like the Covenant were the aggressors, but the Mammoth will still get his shot in afterwards.

Why no both option?
The Mammoth’s MAC could easily destroy the Scarab but the Scarab could also easily disable the MAC similar to what the Lich did.

The Mammoth would serve immediately after opening, the Scarab would also do that.
I think its an even match but I think that a mammoth has a better chance. Its got a MAC gun, two rocket cannons, and looks like it could fit 4-6 machine guns.
Mammoths are slower than Scarabs. Scarabs have anti-air guns, lateral guns and the main cannon. Whomever, a single shot of the Mammoth Mac cannon would take the scarab down.
Well, the Mammoth would have feel chances against a Super Scarab
It depends on the actual situation. If the Mammoth operator is quick enough, (s)he can disable the Scarab with one single shot. If (s)he misses, the Scarab has the superior firepower, the direct fire from the AA gun and the plasma beam would vaporize the Mammoth. The Scarab also has the advantage of being really all-terrain vehicle, walkers are more agile than tracked tanks.
Mammoth for the win!

In reality:
Mammoth > Scarab
Well, a Lich was able to disable a Mammoth, and the Lich is practically a flying Scarab.
So I’m going with Scarab.
Though if the Mammoth saw the Scarab first, the MAC cannon would destroy it.
