I did a search for “mammoth” and all it gave me was people with mammoth in their gamertags (wtf?).
Is there any confirmation that we’re able to use the mammoth in Multiplayer or Spartan Ops? I understand we’ll most likely be able to use it in campaign, but I would be disappointed if it wasn’t in matchmaking. The picture link below gives strong evidence that it is indeed in the game, just not when or where it can be used!
Personally, I think they’ll appear in Spartan Ops and Multiplayer as mobile CTF bases. I can’t say for sure though. Anyone have any more information about it?
I certainly hope that mammoths are in MM as the way the roles elephants had
So much potential i can only dream lol
It was so limited for one map but it was different for me evertime i played Halo 3 lol i remember me and my friends drove the elephant and got on top of the enemies elephant on CTF xD
> I don’t see why they wouldn’t add it on multiplayer if they added the Mantis. I’d love to ride on that Mammoth on rough places.
Well: again, the maps aren’t big enough.
I mean, look at them.
Haven: doesn’t support vehicles.
Adrift: same
Longbow: not big enough for 2 Mammoths + too many obstacles and smaller driveways for a single Mammoth even.
Exile: might house 1 Mammoth…which wouldn’t have room to move around. Again: too many obstacles and hills/holes on the map
Solace: doesn’t support vehicles
Complex: not big enough for a Mammoth + lack enough open space for anything bigger than a Hog to be driven around
Ragnarok: Remember Valhalla? Elephants wouldn’t work on that map…Mammoths certainly won’t.
And that leaves 1-2 maps left to be announced. Yes: it is possible there will be 1 huge map that allows Mammoths to be used, but I doubt it. You’d need something even bigger and more plain than Sandtrap was…and that is really “un-Halo”. I mean, you’d need Spire in terms of size, without all the rocks and small passages and nooks and crannies…that doesn’t sound like a fun map does it?
As for the Mantis: it’s not that big. It can easily work on maps that can support a Wraith or Scorpion (I suspect even smaller maps). Not really a good comparison.
I wish they would add the Mammoth to MM, but sad to say, the vehicle is 4x the size of an Elephant, that would make it too big for multiplayer, plus it’s apparently supposed to be the UNSC equivilant of a Scarab, hence the oversized Cannon on top of it.
By the looks of it: I’m guessing you have no clue that there’ll be 3 Forge World maps coming with Halo 4. There’ll be loads of room for anything on all those maps.

Yeah right… I come here daily, have a postcount of 1000+ and I “don’t know about 3 Forge maps”…
1: The only Forge map we’ve seen so far also didn’t show enough ground space for a Mammoth to work.
2: Forge maps aren’t confirmed to be in MM yet.
3: Why would they have the Mammoth just for customs?
I’m not saying it won’t happen. I’m saying I wouldn’t count on it.
I suggest you take anoth look at the size of a Mammoth (110 meters vs Elephant’s 25 meters), its handling (that thing doesn’t turn on a dime, and the gameplay implications (chances of being able to use that huge canon? below 5% I guess…overpowered anyone?!, so that leaves you just driving, you need loads of “flat” empty terrain = not interesting for a map).
Just think about it more than “oh it would be cool!!!” guys…I too think it would be cool…if Halo had maps the size of Battlefield maps. Within the boundaries of Halo however, the Mammoth really wouldn’t work. Neither would the Scarab or any of the bigger flying vehicles.

Jus’ sayin’ because you didn’t mention about FW maps… Sorry.
I’m sure the Mammoths would be on MM. If not, then I wouldn’t be surprised at all because of how huge it is, just like you think.
“Why would they have the Mammoth just for customs?”
In my view: I’d ask why would they make the Mammoth redundant for everything accept the campaign and Spartan Ops when they have three FW maps to alter for customs? The three FW maps would be the only opportunity to place those large Mammoth’s for other players to use.
I will admit that the Mammoth will not withstand the regular maps, that’s why I think it’s a possibility of the Mammoth coming a long nicely for FW.
