Mammoth assault..

I was on my way home from work today and had what I think would be a really cool and interesting gametype. It would be one bomb assault with the assaulting team trying to plant the bomb on a moving Mammoth. I was thinking of a forge world sized map maybe with Sandtrap type terrain. The defending team would have a couple of Warthogs aswell as the Mammoth.

The Mammoth’s Mac gun would be usable but I havn’t seen it in action so I don’t know how poweful it is, I was thinking along the lines of it taking two hits on a scorpion tank. However, because of its placemant the smaller ground vehicles would be able to get close enought to the Mammoth that it becomes useless. There would be a couple of small machine gun turrets, like seen on the Elephant, for defense against incoming attackers.

You’re probably thinking that the defenders will be overpowered, well I think the map would be large enough to add a pelican gunship for the attackers, it would take atleast two Mac rounds to take it down. The attackers would have to use tactics to win, either using ground vehicles to distract the mac gun so the pelican can drop in the bomb carrier and a team to defend him, or vice versa, send the bomb team in on the ground and the pelican as the distraction.

Now I know it wouldn’t be perfect, theres probably things I’ve overlooked so any feed back would be good. I don’t know if somebody already had this idea or not, I had a quick search through the forum but couldn’t find anything. Tell me what you think.

I hate to bump but this seemed to just drown amongst the complaint threads ><

I think one mac should take out the pelican, but I also think that it should take some time to recharge the mac and when firing the mac, the mammoth should momentarily stop moving or shut down to make up for the power used by the mac

You know what, I like this idea. It’s about time we got some epic games going on, otherwise things get boring fast.

sadly i dont think that is even in multiplayer

I think it would take BTB to a new level if the map is large enough with plenty of vehicle combat.

I made a thread on exactly this a few months ago, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that the current engine probably couldn’t handle something this massive. Hopefully Halo 5 on next gen can handle it.

EDIT: To accommodate something this massive, the player cap would probably need to be increased from the standard 16 players.

this is a neat idea but unfortunetly the mammoth is confirmed out of MP. :frowning:

I’d love to see something like this, a bit of un-serious mayhem in BTB like it used to be! Only better and a helluva lot bigger! They said the mammoth won’t be in any Matchmaking at the moment though so maybe in a DLC we can have a massive forge world style map big enough to handle a mammoth and maybe a couple falcons and warthogs. This needs to happen. LONG LIVE SANDTRAP!

Oh right I had a look around but couldn’t find anything. More players could be good.

Yeah it does, in the new Interactive Guide it says the main armament is a MAC.

Seems like a good idea. I would have liked it if there was even just 1 map made specifically for vehicle combat. I hate it that 343 thinks all maps should be compatible for on-foot combat to prevent people being dominated by vehicles. Just make one big open map with enough vehicles to fill an entire team and more, why would anyone even want to go on foot then? I would love that.

I’ve always loved on foot combat in Halo but there’s plenty of gametypes and playlists for that, having a mostly vehicular combat map and gametype would be great. A mix of the two is always great too.

ahh i didnt look at that as i thought it had to be bought and was gonna be like the guides by bradygames (who are as bad as IGN with facts)
