Mammoth Assault: An Assault Variant Idea

Assuming that the Mammoth will appear in multiplayer and that it is significantly more massive than the Elephant, I have resurrected an old idea of mine of a variant for Assault that I’m sure many of you have thought of.

Imagine a Sandtrap type map, except a whole lot bigger. Each team of 8 spawns on opposite sides in or around their own Mammoth and a plethora of other vehicles. The bomb is placed in the dead center of the map, and each team will race and fight for its control. All the while, each team is piloting and defending their own Mammoth from enemy siege groups. The Mammoths are basically mobile bases and each team attempts to plant the bomb in the enemy team’s base. The interior of each Mammoth is actually a decent-sized map in itself. A lucky or skilled team could even hijack the enemy Mammoth and bring it to the bomb. If the bomb is successfully planted, post-game footage will show the Mammoth destroyed in a bombastic explosion.

I envision some large-scale vehicular madness, as well as some intense firefights while invading each other’s Mammoths. Teams even larger than 8 would suit such a massive map and gametype better, but 8 would probably remain the maximum.

This gametype would be satisfyingly chaotic. If not possible on the current-gen hardware, there’s always hope for it in Halo 5 on next-gen. Anyone concur? Please leave comments for additional rules or thoughts on the variant.

sounds pretty cool.i like it.

Assuming the Mammoth’s in multiplayer, you could actually do this using forge mode (if the objective setup is the same as Reach’s). You could simply set the label on the Mammoth to ass_obj, and away you go.

I was thinking it could probably be done with Forge as an alternative if 343 doesn’t include it outright. Here’s hoping they’ll appear in MP.
