I’ve been watching some Halo PC multiplayer gameplay, and I noticed some really old and outdated things about it that would be annoying to modern multiplayer games. Things such as,
-No names of teammates over the arrows marking friendlies.
-Multiplayer announcer: “Red team has the flag”-“Blue team has the flag”-“Red team has the flag”-“Blue team has the flag”. Would this become too annoying after a while?
-Touching the flag after killing the carrier immediately returns it to the teams base.
-Flag carrier can drive vehicles, appearing that he doesn’t even have anything.
-No team chat, or voice chat at all (Surely this would be something they changed).
Just things in general like this. I know they want to keep it as original as possible. But is there any minor changes you would like to see made?
Hopefully they adopt the changes made in Halo Custom Edition. You can toggle names over a teammate’s head with the F3 key and flag carriers are marked with an icon even when they enter a vehicle.
Marking flag carriers, instant objective returns and objective holders driving vehicles are all controversial gameplay elements and should be changed ‘because’.
Taking the changes made in the PC version is probably a good idea but again, I don’t care enough about H1. Better for others to discuss it : )
It’s not H1 as it shipped if you add those “slight changes”(with the exception of voice chat which is actually pretty necessary). I can guarantee someone is gonna get pissed if they did that. If you don’t like the way H1 was shipped years ago then you can just play other Halo games on that disc. Plain and simple.

Didn’t say I didn’t like it. I have very fond memories of playing Halo 1 split-screen with friends. Just saying, they can’t leave it EXACTLY as it is, as they always say.
I also can’t really see how it could factor into a ranking system, seeing as it’s quite a bit unbalanced.
I liked all of the above you mentioned bar the name thing with team mates.

They can and they should.
I agree that CE missed out on a bunch of good enhancements, but making any kind of changes to the gameplay completely defeats the purpose of bringing the game to XBL for the first time.
Well, the majority of these can be fixed by simply not having Halo CE in the CTF playlists.
I will never ask 343i to change anything about those games because they might go too far and make a change that breaks the game.
> Well, the majority of these can be fixed by simply not having Halo CE in the CTF playlists.
And if we want to play CTF for CE, especially in custom games?
> Are there any minor changes you would like to see made?
If you want to make hitsounds, flag-grab audio, and nametags toggle-able, sure. Halo Custom Edition actually has nametags you can turn on and off by pressing F3.
Though changing how the game works (i.e. removing instant flag reset, removing carrier’s ability to drive) isn’t such a good thing as those aren’t minor changes, they are major gameplay affecting ones.
I can’t think of anything I want changed at the minute (other than voice chat), but I’m sure I’ll come across something.
Better spawn points. the spawns in CE and even H2 are ridiculously terrible.
While some of the requests you made are great, 343i is not changing the gameplay, so none if not any of this will ever happen.
