Making Reqs fun

There’s been a lot of talk about how the Req system forces people to play a certain way, or damages the game in some way. I certainly don’t think the system is flawless, but I do think there are ways to have fun with how it currently operates. These are things players can do to make the game more enjoyable for themselves. For example:

Treat Reqs as rewards
This is something I’ve taken to recently. More often than not, I’ll stick to my loadout weapons. There’s a pretty good selection of loadouts so sticking to them won’t neccessarily put you at a disadvantage. If I’m doing well in a match I’ll reward myself by selecting a power weapon. This might be when a boss spawns, or when the enemy starts using their vehicles. It can even just be when you feel like you’re on a roll. The advantage of this system is that it gives you time to get a feel for the game, and gives you more opportunities to use weapons you find on the map, weather they be from dead players or AIs. You feel less compelled to stick to the Req you selected out of fear of wasting it, and it lets you experiment with enemy weapons, so you can get a feel for different power weapons without using your own Reqs.

Accept that sometimes, you’re going to lose
I’ve noticed that sometimes, when a game has been so one sided, that some players will start pulling out there Reqs when things are getting bad. I’ve also noticed that this never really helps. The losing team still loses, and now those players are even more frustrated because they feel like they’ve wasted their Reqs. All the power weapons in the world won’t help you win if the other team is better than your own. You pulling out a Mantis isn’t going to change things if you have 11 mediocre teammates and the other team is that much better. Don’t make a bad situation worse by wasting you Reqs.

What about everyone else? Do you guys have tips for other people who aren’t enjoying the Req system?
