Making Halo more accessible?

I love Halo, i have followed the series from the beginning, witnessed it become one of the most popular and successful games of all time. But with the transition from Bungie to 343 i can’t help but think, is Microsoft -Yoink!- out the Halo franchise and not respecting the veteran community? This caught my eye, especially this:
“The goal is to get non-Halo fans into the first-person shooter series”

  • Matt McCloskey, developer.

So please comment and let me know what you think, this is an open discussion and all opinion are welcome, but please keep it “Halo”.

Why wouldnt they want it to be more accessible? The more people that are able to play the game and have fun, the more success 343i can obtain.

More casuals you mean? (Not that im against this) but I hope there is more competitiveness in the game

Ok, i can see how more players would “increase” the game. But would it be for the best?

I had way more fun in the Reach beta than I have in the actual game. Most likely because only dedicated Halo fans were playing it, as opposed to the normal 14 year olds taking a break from CoD.

But 343 (or rather Microsoft) is trying to sell copies. In the long run they don’t care who plays. Obviously they do want to keep dedicated fans happy, but it can’t be their primary goal, that is just bad business.

Yes. Sticking with the Core would make a slow, painful death.
Expanding means Halo might actually survive. Dunno why no one sees that.

It’s all about what you guys want for Halo. Do you want it to be a game that can be competitive, but accessible, to continue to be the gaming juggernaut it is? Or do you want it to be purely competitive and be less popular and played only by a niche group like Counter Strike? I perfer the former.

I Vote Option Number One!
