Making Abilities interesting in BTB

From other thread, I was discussing its use mainly for Arena. If it’s useful, then it is ultimately a fun weapon/feature. Remember the Plasma repeater in reach? Yeah, absolute trash to use lol, the plasma pistol was way better. Anyway, you get my point.

With BTB, there is much room for creativity. They have one extra thing, and that is vehicles. You may already know where I’m going with this. You’re a walking tank no? Well why not make Spartan Tackle and Ground pound do more than something against vehicles.

Given the strength, heaviness and speed of a Spartan, you should be able to put a hurting on a vehicle in a few blows. Ground Pound, the stronger of the 2 should be able to crush a mongoose or ghost opponent into the dirt with a “Direct hit.” Too a hog, it should severely damage it with direct hit. Against Tanks, come the benefit of accelerating quickly to high jack before they back pedal, though you could be shot in mid air.

Spartan Tackle would be a lot more interesting, if it gave you the power to deal more than a regular melee in damage; also the ability to launch the vehicle a small distance (or off balance) depending on the physics going on.

These are the only 2 Abilities I feel that can mean more in BTB. Thoughts?

Oh please no. That is the opposite of what should be happening. Vehicles don’t need any more nerfs. It doesn’t even make a whole lot of sense why these vehicles would be damage at all after being shown to be able to both carry several tons worth of Spartans with ease and run them over with no issues at all.

Ground pound should splatter you against moving vehicles, at most, you should only be able to kill a passengers with a direct hit on the player. I can get behind ground pound as a way to close on a vehicle for boarding. We should focus on the mobility aspect to create interesting infantry/vehicle dynamics not the ‘tank’ aspect of spartans.

it almost confuses me to think how these new abilities will blend with vehicular gameplay. I hope it remains true to Halo at its core.

I think a well-timed charge should be able to flip a warthog from the side. GP shouldn’t do that much damage, probably only being capable of destroying an already-damaged mongoose/gungoose/ghost.
But hey, with customs and damage modifiers, this could be so much fun! I can picture the machinima about Falcon Punches already…

If vehicle health was more like H2 and 3, I think wouldn’t feel like paper mache to bullets. Lets focus on both aspects. Being able to physically damage vehicles without weapons would be nice.

The feats I’ve explained aren’t exactly that easy to perform. Chances are, if vehicles are that close to you to inflict physical damage, then you are close enough to board possibly.
