Making a Difference

Was looking at some of the Halo Online weapons again and can’t help but wish Halo 5 took weapon designs the same way. It may only be a slightly different model with some new coloring, but it’s better than just a skin change, especially for the weapons that have new firing modes. I think the Scourge of Fire is a good example. It fires out two grenades now, but still retains it’s single barrel. It wouldn’t really change anything but look cooler, but I think that would make some of the more powerful or rare weapons be a bit more exotic. Maybe the Void’s Tear gets some sort of forerunner tech added on or is a little bulkier. The weapons could also have different icons, so when the kill feed starts racking up you can tell someone has a high powered weapon and maybe you should prepare yourself to deal with that type.

Additionally, I was pretty disappointed when I found out the Warzone bosses were just reused models instead of something unique. I remember in The Sprint it was said that “oh giving them names gives them character”, but when they look the same and have all the same attacks and abilities, the name really does nothing. At least a variation in colors or giving these bosses heavy ordinances like the second tier scattershot would make them a bit more exciting and change up combat.

A final thing is that some weapon variants don’t even have skins, let alone unique models. ONI turrets look exactly the same as their normal counterparts, which is just kind of sad. Just paint the green black and the things would be distinguishable.

Whether 343 is able to change or update in-game models is unknown, but they have already done so many things Bungie couldn’t. Weapons, armor, vehicle, and even Forge DLC, and now even updating the color system for Spartans and emblems. Here’s to hoping at least some weapons get touched up (and also make the kill-feed recognize the whispered truth, SPNKr, and prophet’s banes unique icons like the H2 BR).

(Also not really related to models but when you zoom in twice with the Echidna, we shouldn’t see it like it’s still right in front of our face)
