making a cube on its point- help needed

i need to make a cube on its point but i cant figure out how to do it right

please could someone explain clearly how to do this or post a video on making one

What point are you talking about? If you’re speaking about it being on a long axis (where there’s a long line facing down) it’s very simple.

All you need to do is set your rotation snap to 45 degrees and set your walls. I would suggest putting the sides on last.

Now if you’re speaking of a true point, the same priciple applies. You need to put your foundation down first and build upwards. I have a cube map that I built if you’d like to see it and get some ideas just measage my GT.

Hopefully this was helpful for you.

this is what i want to build to be the centre piece of my map but i cant get the blocks to line up with rotation snap (cant do it manually, it looks messy)

i keep trying to make a section to drop the blocks into to make them take that shape but i cant get it to line up

Ah that’s not too hard. I’ll be online later tonight (about 5pm central) Send me an invite and I can show you how/ help you set it up.

can you try to explain it? not sure whether i will be on later

i have been trying since i posted this topic and i cant figure it out alone

if i can get this done, i will start to make my map

Hm, I’ll try to explain for you then.

First, set your snap to 15 degrees so you’ll have more controll. Then flip a 1x1 block so it’s tilted at a 45 degree angle. You’ll then rotate it until it’s on an axis. You should have it on it’s point.

Place your first block as your foudation.

Repeat the first step for the next three blocks. Now for the positioning, select your block that you want to place and get it into a close position. If you click and hold your left thumbstick in, you’ll be able to move the block in smaller measurements. Just play around with the positioning until it looks right.

thank, ill try in a minute and see how it goes

If you need any help, just ask.

never mind, i think i am doing it properly now

why cant they just have 5x5 cubes already built?

decided to make it all out of 1x1 blocks, nothing else seems to line up properly

Can you try using the ‘edit coordinates’ function? That might be easier for you.

If you haven’t used it before, just select the block and hit the ‘B’ button. In that menu you’ll find it.

Be sure your snap is off if you try that.

thats what i am doing, im gonna make it with 1x1 then cover it with 5x5

the bottom worked doing but you cant snap the piece the right way when you want to do the top

I’ve done it now, thanks for that

just hope i dont forget how to do it for the future

I run into the same thing a lot, too. The 3x3 block does a pretty good job looking nice on it’s own, if you want to give that a try. It’s not as big but saves some work.

my sideways cube isnt really at 90 degrees, ohh well

some of the “cubes” aren’t cubes. all the flat pieces are the correct size
4x4 tall is 4x4x3, its not quite a cube, the only cube in the pieces is 1x1 and 3x3, the rest are out

dont understand why they didnt make the same pieces of each size and actually make cubes, there is no 4x1 and there is only 5x5 and 5x1

i dont think the thought about forge

Sometimes what works is to get it as close as you can, let of it, turn your snap on and then grab it again.

It’ll auto snap to the proper angle.

However, I would always save your hard work before you do that just in case you can’t get it back after trying that trick.

i have decided to use 3x3 blocks to make it

currently working on the map it will be in,shame i have to go bed soon, i’ve got college tomorow

Make sure to put the homeless guy there to. lol
