I wanted to tell you an idea that has been going round my mind, the idea is to propose to 343 to make a competition where they ask questions about Halo, the winner will have the chance to get his or her spartan on the story of Halo as a oficial character and it will decide some characteristics like:
- Name - Rank - Equipment (his or her wepons) - Habilities - Background story - Phisical characteristicsI would like to know your opinion of this because if a lot of people reunite supporting this idea there will be a chance that 343 will make it come true

Habilities? What the hell are those?
This is a cute idea, but I’d rather 343i focus on the canon story of the Halo universe. That being said, they could put an easter egg about such a contest in the next Halo game.

The problem with this, besides the need to proof-read this thread, is the sheer number of entries the team would have to go through. And I can guarantee that 90% of the submissions would be just plain awful, unrealistic, and personal wish fulfilment involving fans pretending they’re a Spartan.
If this would happen, there would have been 300spartan IIs,1000spartan IIIs.
More then 287 Spartan IIs and 200 spartan IIIs would have survived the fall of reach and the most of them would then have participated in the battle of the Alpha Halo.
Should I go on?
I think the way your spartan is canon at the moment is ok.

Seriously. Every time one of these “Create your own Spartan” threads appear, everyone goes for the II’s or III’s and breaks all forms of established lore just because they want to have their character be like Chief. 33 Spartans survived augmentation, with two of them then committing suicide when meeting their flash clones. All but two of these thirty one Spartans have been named and both of them are confirmed KIA. And while there were fifteen other Spartan washouts, they were either discharged and moved to own or rehabilitated, they too have all been named.
All active Spartan-II’s have been accounted for. The rest are dead or alive, but no longer actual Spartans.
Same goes for the III’s. Alpha and Beta company were both destroyed. Noble, the Headhunters, and other special teams were all Spartans from Alpha and Beta company. Gamma company is the only place that allows for more III’s in the lore, fan or not, and they were all integrated into the Spartan Branch.
The Spartan-IV’s have plenty of room for random, fan-made Spartans without breaking lore but for some reason everyone hates the IV’s because they are normal soldiers that were augmented so they still have emotions and feelings like normal humans instead of -Yoinking!- children stolen at a young age breed for war and nothing outside of it. There’s roughly 500 Spartan-IV’s (and even this is just a rough guess, there’s no confirmed number) and we know that 145 of them belong to the First Class while the rest, or at least a good number of them, belong to Second Class. Only a handful of the fireteams have been named, and even then many of them are just fireteam names and nothing named beyond that.
You want to create a Spartan? Stick to the -Yoinking!- lore and make it a IV.

This,This is why I made my Spartan an Spartan IV.
He could have particiapted in the most major battles as normal soldier without breaking the canon.
And something in own interestd:Why did you quoted me?
Your point makes so much sense,it could have stood easely without the qoute.

Name: Harold ‘Harry’ Gurin
Rank: Gunnery Sergeant
Equipment: DMR with “Sentinel” scope as a secondary. Sniper rifle primary.
Abilities: He takes the role of Scout and Sniper, he is extremely proficient with long range rifles
Background story: A Scottsman at heart, Harold was born in Edinburgh city in August 2 2510 on earth he grew up under his grandmothers care after his mother and father were killed in an unfortunate accident, he hunted rabbits and other wildlife as a child with his late fathers hunting rifle developing his fascination with the rifle. After the Human covenant war began (when he came of age) he joined the UNSC marines to help fight those “Heartless Alien Squid faced B*****ds” after his grandmother had died of old age, she was 87 when she passed on. Eventually he joined the ODSTs where he met his best friend Allen.
War forged a brotherly bond of steel between Allen and himself.
Physical traits: He dawns the Recon Gen 1 helmet combined with the Soldier body piece for excess ammunition, food and water on longer missions.

Oh the SPAM that would follow…I shudder to even think of it.
Also; forget 90, try 98%. There is LITERALLY a “tell us about your Spartan” thread here on Waypoint and OH MY GOD is it painful to read.

I mean… there are some relatively entertaining entries.
Too bad it’s dominated by self-insert Spartan-IIs or -IIIs that survived the Fall of Reach and are hyper-lethal 'n stuff.

As a writer myself, it’s one of the most painful things to read on this website.

That would be the remaining 2% my friend. Also, yes; lots of S-IIs and IIIs, because most people dont seem to like the IVs.
Admittedly my OC is also a surviving S-III BUT IN MY DEFENSE I developed him right when Ghosts of Onyx was released. The S-IVs werent even thought up yet.

if 343 care make the competition and you win, you can submit this to 343
