make turrets cheaper to help defend the lame

Turrets should be like $100 to help combat the weak players that do nothing but roll in with the brute or the Arby and such. It makes the game not fun and hence why people don’t play it. It is if I had to guess the number one problem with this great game.

Turrets need a complete revamp to be useful, if your having problems with being rushed try using your own leader, or if playing UNSC try locking your base abnd building 5-6 hogs with gunner, whatever you have to do to defend you base / get to & hold the map hooks as fast as possible and you will be fine.

I only build a turret as PoR. and that’s because without it I’m screwed. other wise turrets should never be built.

UNSC don’t need turrets. if anything covenant turrets should cost 100 or 150 supplies.

Turrets were already buffed. Hey here’s an idea. Let’s complain and try to make this game easier. Who cares if it ruins it? I need help man. 1000 for my turrets? Come on man. How am I gonna stop a leader rush and make units now man? Rushing takes no skill man, four turrets and 20 minute super units is how I roll homie. Help me out.

I know how to defend the leader rush and it’s boring as hell, I win some I lose some. How are you not tired of it…oh wait it’s because it’s all you do. The only way you can win! It would be nice not to have to do it every single game. It should be a tactic that catches you off guard not an ever dang game move. your the guy I defend it against and then quit because it’s your only move.

I believe it’s probably one of the biggest reasons people don’t play or abandoned the game. People that are not great or trying to learn can’t because of this. Look at starcraft…you can’t do that crap tactic in 45 seconds of a game starting. It’s the number one rts in the world and it’s much much harder then wars.

Good input. But I think it should be across the board. The hog rush is a bugger vs say profit. But you can’t rush brute at all with it. There for I do think it should be for both sides.

Warthogs are good vs all leaders. I suggest you read this thread if you are complaining about rushing.

Rushing is not what causes people to quit the game. People leave because they don’t know how to stop it…
And yes you can actually use hogs to stop a brute. Just gotta know how to use them.

my turret upgrade idea (potential for HW2)

i have tried having 4 level 3 turets, armed with anti-vehicular attachments all fireing on a freshly-made scorpion with zero experience, and the turrets lost

a somewhat simple sugestion is the folowing,
make different types of turrets:

Anti-Infantry:
-basicly, the turret will be armed with a large Flamethrower, it has a shot range, but its not like the hellbringers’ flamethrower,it will shoot at further distances, but it cannot shoot at aircraft
-Level One turrets will start with a heavy flamer
-Level two will increase damage of the flamer
-Level three will ad a stun grenade launcher
-Level Four will ad a pair of Dual machine guns (yes, four machine guns)to let the turret combat aircraft

Anti-Vehicle:
-a turret with a cannon much similar to the scorpion’s gun, it can shoot at aircraft as well, it it will often miss
-Level one is a simple cannon
-Level two adds a second cannon, and increases damage slightly
-Level three Adds a pair of railguns to the turret, to it can shoot at longer distances
-Level four will make the cannons turn into a rotary cannon, much like the kind mounted upon Longsword fighters

Anti-air:
-a turret similar to the “AA-gun” in Reach, it’s a gatiling gun, that shoots lagre AA rounds, it works well ageinst Infantry also
-level One starts with a basic Minigun
-level two adds a second minigun
-Level three ads a pair of missle launchers to the turrets
-Level four adds a heavy grenade launcher to help it combat vehicles better

Well-rounded:
-a turret similar to the Current Halo wars turret, just a little more useful, it exels nowhere, but has no weaknesses
-level one has the basic cannon like in HW
-level two adds dual machine guns for AA, and a grenade launcher for Vehicles and infantry, and it still keeps the cannon
-Level three adds a second cannon to the turrets
-Level four will increase health and will ad a laser cannon to help with infantry
-This will be the most expensive turret to buy, and upgrade

now you may be asking, "well if the turrets are that strong, whats the point of attacking?
well, attaking with different groups (example: Scorpions supported by hornets) will help, and also, mass numbers can quell the turrets

ideas?

Seems like a good start. Might be a little over powered though as the defending base will also have units to deal with. The attacker would have to have a lot of units to over come there units and very strong turrets. I do think something should be done.

deployable turrets in a radius around the base + Twizzsted’s specialised turrets would be enough defence. maybe even to much.
