Make the multiplayer fun

I feel many of the matches don’t feel as fun as they could. This is largerly because I have to use big portion of my game time playing game modes I don’t enjoy. For me many of the featured gamemodes feel like a chaotic nonsense, mess that is not one bit rewarding. “Lets give everybody random guns and make them run around with out an objective”. Its a bit dumb, knowing that there are modes in the game that I definitely enjoy.

I would propose following. Multiplayer modes could be: 1) quickplay and 2) ranked. In quickplay you could choose which game modes you want to search games in. If you want to keep many modes populated and queues shorter, maybe 3 modes should be picked at least or so? This would limit players focusing too much on certain modes, which would cause long wait times in others.

On the otherhand, if there are game modes people don’t generally like, why force anybody to play them? If there are no players, get them off the loop and replace with something else that might work? I personally think “Attrition” is the best game mode in the game, and I also like “King of the hill” alot. Shame I can’t search a game in them in any way. Simple change would make my experience a whole lot more fun. What do others think?

Fun isn’t competitive and therefore is not part of Halo’s DNA I guess.

You mean, custom game browser multiplayer fun like this, for instance?

Or fun as in - additionally - having some true war and mayhem going on, with spilled blood, bullet decals, non-lame visual and sound effects, impactful explosions, ground scorching, dead bodies, player collisions, stunts with vehicles that can actually climb a pavement, aerial combat, alive and kicking global chat etc. ?

Yea, a large issue with Infinite’s player experience right now is the lack of a Match Composer.

There is no way for players to build up a matchmaking experience they enjoy like MCC because you’re forced to play X mode only for hours on end. And to make things worse, the Challenge system is being used to shepard players into playlists they don’t want to play.

This game needs to have a match composer on the level of MCC so players can choose to queue for an array of modes or specify a single mode they wish to play.

No doubt when CGB drops, most of Infinite’s casual population will move there. It’s where most of the fun is ever had when it comes to Halo games because you get to pick from lists of fun custom modes and it never gets dull. Well, unless you get 2 pages full of Assassination customs, another reason why I’m so glad Infinite doesn’t have Assassinations.

I wish we had a match composer. Just let us queue for say a minimum of two-three modes if you are worried about splitting the playerbase too much.

What people find fun is subjective. What you might find fun others may not.

I really hope they can get a customs game browser up and running so people can create their own servers to play on.

this is a great idea for social modes.

Thats true, and thats why we need a social team slayer with no ranking or SBMM. A ranked Team slayer would be nice too though. I cant understand its not in the game.
But we also need more maps, Im so bored at the maps now.

Not exactly. I mean match making, but with the ability to choose which game modes you want to search the games in. Say I want to play attrition, king of the hill and ctf → search.

Wonderful topic. Why is Infinite not fun?

I agree the search is terrible compared to MCC. Plus the stale challenge system which tries to mimic other franchises but lacks the worthwhile content to feel rewarding. One more thing about the search. With MCC on PC before launch my expectations for Infinite were no longer containable.

The ability to play a match of H2A, immediately followed by H3, then a match of Reach made me desire Infinite to be added to this rotation. Disappointedly, I am often told how this is a ridiculous expectation and request. But I know by 2030 I’ll be buying MCC 3.0 with this feature. Or maybe I won’t because the failures have pushed me away from the franchise.

It’s T-rated and as a result, childish, lame and boring. We actually call it LEGO® Halo with friends.

So Fiesta, my favourite game mode which is loads of fun.

Two modes I’m not a fan of, not particularly fun for me.

Key point here is that everyone has a different idea of what is fun.
I do think the idea of selecting multiple game modes via quick play and queuing for them all is a good one.

You’ve gotta find at least one friend to play with or the matchmaking experience is truly not what any Halo has ever felt like. The social factor of communication is essential.
