Ever since Halo 4, I’ve wanted the OG Gen 1 Mark VI. I’m super glad they added the “diaper” crotch piece back in Halo 5, but I think they should go further. The shoulders and chest piece to me look very off from the design to the proportions, that and the fact that the “fins” on the back are way larger. Another thing I would love for them to do would be to return the classic black undersuit for all Gen 1 armors. Other than that, the forearms, legs, and helmet look almost spot on.
Chiefs will stay like that. OG mark 6 is in multiplayer only most likely.

The fin’s on the back are intentionally larger due to housing thrusters.
I agree. the Halo 5 version of OG MkVI is much better than Halo 4’s but it is still not there. The helmet and shoulder pads are the biggest offenders in my opinion.

In Halo: Reach, Jorge’s helmet was a Mark IV Grenadier variant (modified to support the new tech), yet he still had energy shields. We’ve also got ODST armor with energy shields, so…

It’s ok, the overflowing swag from the MK IV armor will take the place of shields. The molten, liquid swag will solidify around the armor like an invisible barrier, and it will provide for all of my protection and movement needs. It also has regenerative properties like shields. Trust me, this is completely canon.

Well Spartans in Halo Wars clearly had regenerating swag instead of shields, so I’d say that this is completely legit.
