One of my person problems with recent halos is the fact that the emblems are so small they are barely visible on my armor. I miss the Halo 2/3 era of emblems, because they were big and visible and you could really show it off not only in the main menu but in-game as well. 343i please make the emblems big again, I almost feel no need in even customizing my emblem because of how small it is. They don’t need to take up half my armor, Halo 2/3’s size emblems would be completely fine, just make it were I don’t have to squint to see my emblem on my armor.
Take it further. Let’s be able to customize the size of our emblem and where it appears on our armor. Lets create our own emblems a la Black Ops.

I laughed out loud at 2004-2004. I know what you mean, but I pictured Tartarus at one year old as some sort of super baby.
OT: Those customization ideas are actually pretty cool. I know this is kind of off topic (and I just went on topic) but I also miss the old big -Yoink- medals.

I believe a less heretical suggestion would be to have it be like the emblem creation and placement system that was in Chromehounds (such an underrated mech game released in the first year the 360 came out). You could layer several simple to complex pre-existing symbols to create your own emblems, and then you could place it anywhere that wasn’t a weapon. And achievements would unlock new emblems so you could show them off on yourself, that is if it was big enough to see anyways. I believe even Armored Core V had a very extensive emblem creator, but I don’t have first hand experience of that.
For a system like that, you would also have to add a “Report emblem” option to playercard for those that will ultimately abuse the system, and a few people at 343 to monitor those reports. And offenders could even become temporarily or permanently banned from the emblem creator depending on what they did and how many times they did it.

I think we both know why that will never happen and why it’s a bad idea.
I would support larger emblems. Making your own, though… never really appealed to me.

Maybe you will redeem yourself after becoming the mark of shame, known as the Arbiter.
Though, I am interested to the idea of placing emblems in other places besides the shoulder

Why are so many people hating on an entirely valid idea?

Because they’re afraid of the small risk of seeing cartoonishly rendered images of genitals even though they’re happily playing a game where the sole objective is to competitively kill other human beings.
*sigh

People already attempt to make those images in Halo anyways.
I don’t care much about it, I think it’s childish. I just think Halo needs a view more shapes and emblems. With the amount we have, people still find ways to make interesting emblems. We don’t need a big emblem editor like Black Ops. What’s stopping other games from having it if it’s so cool. I think Halo’s simple emblem editor is unique to itself. No one really complained about how it has been…

Sure, it’s unique to Halo, but it doesn’t really particularly harbor creativity in the way that COD’s does. In fact, it’s actually pretty restrictive.
There are good things from COD and there are bad things from COD. A legitimate Emblem creator is not only a good thing from COD, but COD didn’t create the idea. I don’t see why we shouldn’t have it.
And if people are afraid of the small risk seeing cartoonishly rendered images of inappropriate objects, remember that we’re playing a game that’s sole objective is to competitively kill other human beings.
Which is worse?

Inappropriate objects of course!
But seriously I like the simple emblems.

inappropriate emblems, of course. besides that, at least in H4, we don’t “kill” human beings, since War Games on the Infinity is only a combat-simulator.
There’s a difference between these extremes, the reality of combat and the immaturity of player created symbols.
one is a potentially harrowing experience that changes all who go through it, and admittedly, its widespread use in assorted medias have generally dulled our senses to it. theres still something to learn though with the likes of certain movies and games who respect their use of it.
the other is “420 blaze it” surrounded by butts.
The only thing learned there is that a lot of people should have used protection.
I suppose I am not for player created symbols. I’d much rather keep with the presets, and appreciate anyone with the mind to go into battle with their power armored soldier sporting a coffee mug on his arm.

That’s the fun part. It may not harbor as much creativity as Black Ops emblem generator, but it allows us to have more of a challenge with making unique emblems. Like I said though, I think it’d be nice if we got more shapes. I’ve considered a color wheel for emblems before, but it would have to also keep preset colors so that we don’t struggle to make the exact same color. I think color sets, toggling emblem parts and an array if shapes is enough for me. I get compliments with my emblem cuz it does look like an angry snow flake. Not what I was trying look for, but it turned out pretty well with what I was given.
I know it sounds strange in that I am arguing against having completely everything in a editor like Blops.
