I have an idea: we should make the campaign have ridiculous elements. Things that we would never have dreamed of putting into multiplayer (e.g. dual wielding needlers/launchers). Things that would make campaign gameplay a hell of a lot more fun. Campaign gameplay doesn’t have to be truly canon. I highly doubt that Master Chief could actually lift a tank in canon.
We should these more fun gameplay-oriented mechanics, with OP campaign weapons. Like a scarab gun from Halo 2. Just these fun little ideas that would make the campaign a blast. Also, each gold skull makes a power weapon less OP. So, If you’re playing on LASO, a single fuel rod cannon shot would only break an Elite’s shields. That way, it can be tough for the challenge seekers and fun for the casual players.
Also, armor abilities can come back without people being pissed off. If executed right, armor abilities could actually have a fun role in the campaign like in Halo 3.
*Just a little side note, I really, really, really want to play a part of a mission as the Didact in Halo 5. Just thought it would be awesome to view things in a red forerunner HUD and killing people by lifting them with your force-style armor abilities and by crushing them with your huge Didact hands. Just saying.

Funny thing is, HE CAN flip a tank like in gameplay, at least according to Frank O’ Connor. -Yoink- me, right?
Anyway, I would like an option to make the campaign similar to canon. For example, marines getting one-shotted by plasma bolts, marines being vaporized by fuel rod guns (like what happens in Ghosts of Onyx), etc.
The ‘Tilt’ skull in ODST (and the other games, I think) was a step in the right direction with this idea.

Lifting around 60 tons is still pretty implausible.

We don’t know if he can lift one yet, but we DO know that he can flip one thanks to Frankie in the Halo Legends: Homecoming developer commentary - Though how troublesome it is to do so has not been specified yet.

So you are saying that Spartans should have the reflexes, strength, agility, and the precision of a regular human instead? Because Halo is about a game where aliens wield plasma and energy-based weapons. The whole series is implausible to begin with.

And so is Spartans tearing 3 inches of steel like an orange.
Can we get on topic now? Anyway, I’m not sure if dual-wielding rocket launchers should be the standard even for the campaign. As a skull? Maybe. But normal gameplay? No - This isn’t Wolfenstein, after all.
“MOAR KEWL STFUFFS” does not make a fun game with high replay value. There is a reason that these types of ideas are not implemented often, and it’s not because of developer incompetence or technology limitations. Historically, the games with the coolest features flop, such as Shadowrun, Titanfall, Halo 4 (multiplayer), Crysis 3 (multiplayer), and Watch_Dogs. This is because design goes much, much deeper than just “cool stuff,” and the more attention you give to making cool stuffs, the less attention you give to making deep, addictive, satisfying gameplay.
> Again, we are talking about SUPER soldiers that sport armor which enhances their strength immensely.
Yes, because super soldiers have no limits and can do anything and nothing is impossible.

Reminds me of Reach’s firefight. Too arcadey, too goofy. Sucks the immersion right out of the gameplay with everyone using shoulder mounted weapons. Never liked it.
We should never be unstoppably powerful as a default.
I’m sorry, but I don’t agree that making the campaign over the top and silly would make it any more enjoyable. What makes the campaign enjoyable is well-designed maps, an interesting story and great gameplay. I don’t need to dual-wield Rocket Launchers to enjoy the campaign. If anything, it would take away from the sophistication, which would make things less enjoyable.
Balance is part of what makes a campaign fun. I don’t really care for the thinking that says you can just throw whatever in the campaign simply because it is not PvP.
That is not to say campaigns can’t occasionally break the ‘rules’ for the sake of a fun gameplay section(see Long Night of Solace). I don’t like sprint as a standard mechanic, but I would be okay with chief breaking into a sprint for some sort of chase/escape section.
As far as ‘fun’ things I would like to see, I would love to see an expansion of the ‘weapon effects’ similar to the Forerunner disintegration. One of my favorite parts of the Halo 4 campaign was taking a Binary rifle and go to town watching Elites melt away. It makes you feel powerful without actually affecting the balance of the game.
I want to see all Promethean weapons be capable of disintegration, I want to see human/brute weapons produce CE levels of blood effects, I want to see plasma/energy weapons leave enemies steaming.
For me its the little things that can make a campaign rather than throwing in a whole bunch of orphaned mechanics for the sake of ‘fun.’

This. It would have been awesome if the enemy vaporized by a charged up boltshot. Or marines being disintegrated by a fuel rod gun.
Energy Swords should do this to a Spartan. Maybe it sometimes could even do what happened to Roland from Headhunters.
Brute shots should crumple the player like tissue paper, and sometimes even split them in two. Forerunner weapons that don’t vaporize in one hit should leave massive marks on the armour. Nothing too gory, though.
Perhaps the designs I mentioned shouldn’t be implemented for the whole campaign just specialized levels or parts of levels. Just special high action fun parts that are a small break from the shoot-everyone formula of the regular campaign. Kind of like that one part of the level Requiem in Halo 4 where you drive a unlimited-boost ghost through the level to get through the portal.

Yeah, one mission which would be a fan service like the sabre and pelican missions. I rather not see over the top things that ruin immersion like dual wielding rockets and stuff because we are not Saints Row.
