Make it 8v8 or just leave it 6v6. Exclude Skyline if it’s 8v8. Anyone for or against this? I know DLC required hasn’t shown up yet but it would be a good playlist to put it in. Add in a couple of Prom. weapons so people can still get that achievement without having to play slayer. A few other tweaks here and there like adding hogs to Shatter since it is a “Warthog playground” and it should be good. It could just be our permanent dlc playlist.
First of all there’s no way in hell they’d make DLC required. That kind of stuff could fly when Halo was THE game to have, but those days are over, unfortunately.
Now for making Team Obj into BTB Obj, I really hope that they don’t do that. I avoid BTB like the plague because it just feels too random to me, and I feel like teamwork becomes less important as the amount of players increases. I grudgingly accepted the chance from 4v4 to 6v6 because I saw it as a good compromise for all the BTB fans, but I’d personally be pissed if they screwed with Team Obj even more.
Now that being said, I do think BTB Obj should be an option, but what I think they need to do is decrease Team Obj. to 5v5 and combine it with CTF. Then remove “BTB Infinity Slayer” and just have a Big Team Battle playlist with both slayer and objective options. They could also possible eliminate the Dominion playlist and just have it as an option in BTB. This would not only streamline the playlist selection, but also satisfy both the BTB lovers like you and the “small teams” people like me.
Anyway, chances are that they’ll just ruin Team Obj and make people like me either suffer through the ultra casual BTB playlist or the ultra competitive Team Throwdown playlist to play my Objective games. >.>
Put objective in BTB and I would never leave that playlist.
(unless 1sk headshots were put in flood)
God no! First of all Objective needs to go back to 5v5 and secondly objective gametypes should be added to BTB.
I don’t care if objectives get added to the BTB playlists but I do wonder how that would affect CSR since BTB is individual performance and Objective play is team based. I wonder if they can differentiate between the two in a specific playlist even?
> …I think they need to do is decrease Team Obj. to 5v5 and combine it with CTF. Then remove “BTB Infinity Slayer” and just have a Big Team Battle playlist with both slayer and objective options.
343i,
Please note the highlighted section.
IMO, that would be awful.
Slayer game types, for example, Slayer Pro, Slayer,Infinity Slayer, BTIS and SWAT, are about one thing, and one only; kills/deaths.
On the other hand objectives is a different mode all together and should stand apart from kill/deaths modes as what is important, is capping the flag, holding the ball, extracting the site and so on.
BTIS has from day one of Halo 4, and will continue to be so, the most populated play list. It’s population,in recent weeks, out stripes Team Objective, Team Throwdown, Regicide, Team Doubles, Rumble Pit, Multiteam, Grifball, Team Snipers, Team Action Sack and oart of CTF combined! There is no need whatsoever to ruin Slayer by merging it with Objectives.
BTIS population is such because they enjoy Slayer…kills/deaths. There is, though, a large chunk of BTIS players who would like BT Objectives. But, not by creating a mesh of Slayer and Objectives. Rather, by having your (343i) flagship creation, BTIS, as a continuing stand alone well populated play list and, separate from that, a BT Objective play list. IMO, many play straight up Slayer modes because they simply want the kill/death war like experience. Many would never want to play objective games. BTIS should remain as is and thus allow people to get a CSR in a straight up Slayer kill/deaths play list.
There will be enough people play the BT Objective list too. I suspect that an introduction of a BT Objective list would see BTIS remain the number one most played list with the second and third spots being fought out between BT Objectives and Infinity Slayer (4v4).
Ironically, the so-called competitive play lists, prior to CSR and even post CSR launch, remain at the bottom of the lists, day in and day out. I’ve always maintained that while on these forums the competitive crowd seemed like they were the majority due to the sheer volume of their mostly negative threads, that, in reality, they were actually the very smallish minority.
At this very moment of this post, the so-called competitive lists are ranked as follows:
16 Team Objective
15 Team Throwdown
13 Team Doubles
10 Grifball
07 CTF
05 Dominion
04 Castle DLC
Ironically, the very same crowd that demanded more competitive setting that suited them (aka ancient Halo 3 settings or something close to them), are the same who demanded the ranks. Yet, so much has been done, and is continued to be done,to satisfied the very vocal but, extremely small minority of players.
Day in and day out, the most popular play lists are the so-called noncompetitive play lists. I’m not sure if the old Halo 2/3 crowd have noticed but, these happen to be the play lists which have the new style of Halo that 343i has introduced. Therefore, those who are actually playing, have made it clear what is more popular which are ranked:
01 BTIS
02 Infinity Slayer
03 SWAT
06 Flood
08 Team Action Sack
09 Team Snipers
11 Multi-team
12 Rumble Pit
14 Regicide
343i,you know, I know, and most honest people know, that the positioning of the various game types rarely changes on the list of 16. Once Castle DLC is removed, the so-called competitive lists only have two which make it into the top 10, they being CTF and Dominion. Of those two, only CTF fits the old Hallo 2/3 style of play while Dominion is a new 343i infinity style objective game mode.
It is not that competitive play is dead or the competitive crowd has left en mass, but rather, what Halo Reach was, is more popular with noncompetitive players (as Arena showed) and same with Halo 4. But, the divide between social and competitive, IMO, was always wrong, especially so since Halo Reach came out. But, keeping to Halo 4, many people who just play Infinity Slayer, or just BTIS, or just SWAT, find those game lists just as competitive as someone who just plays Team Throwdown, or only CTF. To suggest one group of game types is competitive and not the other is an insult to those who play to win and do very well, no matter the play list/game mode.
Any way, people have been voting with their "A’ button day in and day out since Halo 4s launch. The daily voting shows that BTIS, Infinity Slayer and BTIS are always the top three and always most populated. Obviously then, for those who actually spend their time playing, rather than whining on the forums about the game which most profess not to play, have spoken. They have shown by playing, that what 343i originally introduced, day 1, is preferred over what 343i has introduced for the minority.
If the changes made to satisfy the minority were any good, why hasn’t vast numbers shifted from the 343i style game lists to the appeased play lists, like Team Throwdown? Sure, there were many sightseers to those lists, when first introduced, to see what all teh fuss was about and, having dipped their toes into the competitive world and bland settings therein, scurried back to what is actually more enjoyable and fun by a galactic mile.
I don’t mind a minority being given something to satisfy them. Like a play list, or several, as you have done 343i.
I don’t mind a minority being given ranks if they wanted them, as you have done, 343i.
But, for the love of Halo, why do you, 343i, have to go and change weapon settings to satisfy what is now beyond all doubt now, a very small, but vocal minority, which will impact on the silent majority who have voted with their “A” button each and every day for game modes and lists which the vocal minority ridiculed so much until they got their own lists and ranks and, which exposed their small number.
343i, just as you have given them their own play lists, with the settings they wanted and the ranking system of a sort, sure, give them weapons that are nerfed or whatever for them, the minority, to play with in their smallish populated lists. Leave the weapons as are for all the well populated lists because those people surely don’t want them changed (for the most part).
343i, hold fast. Please do not ruin your creation. The majority which play each day actually play, as you well know, the lists that reflect your creation and not the so-called compromised competitive olden day Halo 2/3 type lists.
Please don’t read any of this. Skip to the bottom.

This is all from someone who has admitted Reach was his first Halo game and still fails to realize how many people have quit this game. Yet continues to insist we’re the minority. Not to mention the fact that his post is all about competitive vs casual, I didn’t even ask for a classic BTB obj. just objective.
First of all, not all competitives want “golden age ancient Halo 3” -Yoink-. In fact there is a significant portion that disliked Halo 3. There’s even many that enjoy loadouts and other new additions to the game.
Second, if competitives really are such a small minority, where are all the players?
Third, Castle is usually in third place and has a mixture of gamemodes.
> But, for the love of Halo, why do you, 343i, have to go and change weapon settings
Because practically everyone is complaining about them except for the people who abuse them. Do you think little timmy, who comes on and makes an all caps rage thread about the DMR is a competitive player? Many competitives believe there are far bigger issues.
I will go as far to say most casuals won’t even notice a difference if a weapon gets buffed or nerfed. There are already conspiracy threads despite the fact nothing has changed at all.
The only thing you have to worry about is if they nerf it too much leaving it useless instead of balanced.

I agree that there should be two playlists, one for BTB obj. and one for team obj. I think BTB obj. needs to be seperate from BTBIS though. If they were combined the quitting would be even worse based on the whole slayer/objective fight. As for Dominion I agree. It could easily fit into the world of BTB obj. without much of a hiccup. CTF, imo should be included in BTB obj. but remain in a seperate 5v5 playlist from team obj. to help with the quitting.
> I agree that there should be two playlists, one for BTB obj. and one for team obj. I think BTB obj. needs to be seperate from BTBIS though.
Look guys, we can’t keep following this mentality.
THERE SHOULD BE A 4V4, 5V5, 6V6, AND 8V8 SLAYER PLAYLIST.
RUMBLE PRO AND INFINITY RUMBLE SHOULD BE SEPARATE.
TEAM REGICIDE, TEAM KOTH, FFA KOTH, FFA REGICIDE, EXTRACTION SHOULD BE SEPARATE.
Before you know it you have like thirty-something playlists.
Though I will concede forcing objective into the most popular playlist might harm the game, so best to test the waters before making it a permanent change.

I agree, but if Team obj. became BTB obj and merged Dominion into it we would have a spot for a small team obj. We would have the same amount of playlists as we do now. Plus the Castle DLC will be gone eventually which is why I made this thread about it (BTB Obj.) being DLC required.
No.
Castle and Dominion are both designed for 6v6, but I suppose they could play 8v8 fine. So merge Dominion with BTB Objective.
Being a KoTH fan I don’t think it’s fair CTF gets its own playlist, but I can tolerate it.
Regicide should be moved to Slayer in my opinion. Because really, it’s just Slayer with a twist. Unlike VIP, you can still win even if your king dies repetitively. I love KoTH, Oddball is alright, but Regicide is a bit bland.
FFA Regicide should be merged with Rumble Pit, but with a fairly low weighting.
Extraction should be added to Team Objective. There’s no reason for it to still have its own playlist.
343I should make a 6v6 DLC playlist. Castle plays good in 6v6, Crimson is pretty bad but still playable in 6v6, and Majestic has no issues with 6v6. Other playlists would still contain DLC, but people looking for DLC specifically could play this playlist, and people wouldn’t be forced to buy DLC. Win for everyone.
So let’s see where we are at the moment.
Infinity Slayer
Team Objective
Team DLC
Big Team Slayer
Big Team Objective
Capture the Flag
Rumble Pit
Throwdown
SWAT
Team Snipers
Flood
Grifball
Action Sack

I can go with that list.
I agree with the ctf only because if it was team objective it would easily out vote koh/oddball like it did in H3. Peak pop. will have ctf about triple the current team obj.
Regicide, is slayer so I can go with that.
And yes, Extraction would easily fit into team obj. or btb obj. It’s playlist is gone by the way. We’re on the same page here.

To all the people that say we shouldnt be able to get btb 8v8 obj how about we get rid of BTIS so that no one will be happy then we will see how you complain halo was never meant to be played like this its like they trying to make COD
I would rather they just add Objective to BTB

This is pretty good except that by merging obj or ctf itself into BTIS it will defeat the purpose of wanting obj games in btb. I think we all know that if it’s ctf vs slayer in btb who’s going to win most of those. That’s not to say it doesn’t have a place in btb but that objectives need their own playlist.
> Put objective in BTB and I would never leave that playlist.
>
> (unless 1sk headshots were put in flood)
Well said…Infection!
Extraction and Dominion should be in BTB Objective. No combining with slayer either, it will push more quitting and leave us with more inconsistent games.
I would rather team Objective, be 4v4. With all the playlists merged together. I like the variety when going into a game. When I play, there’s usually four of us, so we usually win the vote.
Unfortunately 343 has shot themselves in the foot with Regicide, it needs to stay on its own, put it in another hopper and you’ll only receive complaints.
