Alright, so you know how we call some species Brutes, Grunts, Elites, and Jackals? Their species names are Jiralhanae, Unggoy, Sangheili, and Kig-Yar. Ironically enough, these species names also derive from Latin and other languages; Kig-Yar, in Latin, means “Hateful Bandit.”
Anyway, since the Precursors, Flood, and Forerunners don’t have official species names, and they all appear to have strong connections to Halo 4, let’s come up with some. The names can from an ancient word that describes the Forerunners, Flood, or Precursors, or it can just be a made-up, cool sounding species name.
Flood: Unitenebra

Excuse me if i am mistaken, but i thought Jiralhanae, Unggoy, and Kig-Yar were either all Shan-Shyum-given names or all Sanghelli-given names.

If I recall correctly, I seem to remember the Forerunners referring to each as the species’ name, but I could be wrong.

Forerunners= The Enlightened beings.
Precursors= The Creators.
I would class this as a Universe thing but here seems fine.
The Flood already have a scientific-latin name: Inferi revividus for the normal forms and Inferi sentia for the Gravemind.
My other race names would be:
Forerunner: Que ante ; translates to “Those That Came Before”Primium genus ; translates to “The First Race.”
