The one problem I have with Halo is how enemies aren’t mentioned until you encounter them. at least game wise, like the skirmirshes in Reach were never mentioned afterwards. I know that race died on the planet but you never heard from them again, or anything about the DMR until Reach came out. Same thing with the Spartan Laser, you never hear about it till Halo 3, yet they had one on Reach. I’ve heard Bungie try to explain this and how they had future tech on Reach, but I would at least like to hear about a new weapon in Halo 4 that we won’t get to use till Halo 5. Like a marine mention an anti matter rifle, and then we get it in Halo 5, or if we come in contact with Halsey she mentions a new grenade she’s working on and we get it in Halo 5.
Those things are the inevitable result of working on a series; they have nothing to do with canon (although they may be worked into the canon retroactively). Bungie didn’t know that they were going to make Reach when they were making the first few Halo games. Expecting them to herald any new inclusions years before their debut is somewhat unrealistic.

I guess, but it would be cool though. In Gears 2 Queen Myyrah mentions retro-lancers.

She does? I don’t remember that. Granted, it’s been a few years since I played the game.
