MAKE RECON GREAT AGAIN

Who remembers the halo 3 days when you earned Recon through the Vidmaster challenges. Before YOU had Recon you would think damn that person eats nails for breakfast. I remember post games people messaging me asking how I got it. The damn glory days, made you feel so good. 343i if you are reading this please make Recon hard to earn again. Along with some other armors.

I agree.
I think some armours and other unlocks should be locked behind Achievements, and not be able to be bought or given for free at a later date.

I want people to look at other’s armour and think “wow, that guy has some skill”, rather than “wow, that guy has no life”.

Agreed. All of the “exclusive” items are given away anyway.

I like armor that takes skill to unlock. Having Recon return in a similar fashion would be a fun callback to classic Halo. Recently, the Achilles armor was a great armor that meant something to wear.

Case in point, I got Beyond Light after launch, and was surprised to see that I was given the preorder bonuses by the engram guy.

My first thought was honestly “wow that sucks for the people who preordered”.

On the one hand, I feel that if an item is locked behind a specific purchase requirement, then that’s the only way it should be gained. But on the other hand, we have the likes of Halo 4, which tied different armour skins behind specific retailers, and you’re only going to buy one copy.

In an ideal world, this is what I would like to see;
A) a bonus for preordering the game from any store,
B) a bonus for buying the collectors edition from any store,
C) a bonus for buying the CE Console (CE game included) from any store,
D) a bonus for buying for buying the game/console from the MS store.

This way, if you’re a someone who likes having all the content, there is an option for you (in this instance, if you were to preorder the console directly form MS).

Honestly a mix of 3 and Reach unlock system would be best.

You have armor that’s unlocked via grind and armor unlocked via achievement.

Gets you the most playability out of the game.

With the amount of customization in Reach, 4 and 5 it is hard to get any armor to stand out as special. It will be special to “you” and others that are heavily interested in armor customization. For myself, I like cool looking armor (subjective, I know), but I’m more interested in game play. If I see your armor that you busted your butt to get with “skill”, commitment, grinding (read as: no life), luck or whatever; I probably won’t look twice at it because it is simply one of maybe millions of armor combinations.

i want not only recon, but other armor to be unlocked by challenges or other things

Although Reach had many armor variants I could honestly say each helmet, and even some chest pieces stood out though. Each had their own unique look similar to Halo 3. Though in H3 every single armor piece from helmet, to chest, to shoulders looked incredibly unique due to there not being as much armor obviously. I can’t say that about H4 and H5 all the armor (aside from a few helmets, I’ll admit the blue team helmets in h5 are awesome) looks like a mess and is to noisy. I hope in H6 we can strike a balance between a lot of armor available to unlock and very unique looking pieces.

Exactly, like security shoulders from halo 3. You had to splatter someone with a mongoose to get it. Not all of them have to be hard but don’t make them to easy.

I believe you mean the Scout shoulderpads, not Security. To unlock the latter, you actually have to attain a certain Gamerscore in Halo 3. I think it was 750. Anyway, in the very short time that I played Halo 3 ranked (Lone Wolves only) sometime in 2019, I attempted to get the achievement for the Scout shoulderpads, but naturally failed. It is already tricky enough to actually succeed in colliding with an opponent, let alone doing so with enough force to take them out…
