Make playlists DLC required please.

The current DLC system does not work well. It’s supposed to be set up to prioritize other players that also have the DLC. The problem with this is, it relies on Halo 4 having a high population. It does not. The population is abysmally low. Therefore, the system gives up on finding a proper match and just matches you up with anyone. Consequently, I have almost never gotten to play a DLC map outside of a dedicated playlist. I am sure I am not the only one who paid $40 extra for the limited edition and never even gets to play the maps. Good way to reward customer loyalty.

This isn’t a thread to -Yoink- about the problem, but just a simple request for change. Please make the playlists DLC required. Leave infinity slayer for the people who insist on not buying it, but please make the rest of the playlists require it. It worked with Halo 3. There is no reason it would not work here. It would even increase DLC sales, since people would effectively be forced to buy it. What else are they going to do, sell Halo 4 back to Gamestop and get a measly $7? I just think this is the most fair solution. Most importantly, it rewards people who pay extra to support the brand and it sends the message that 343 values their customers.

We still have a year left before the next Halo game, so it is kind of unreasonable to wait until then to implement this. In the meantime, that Halo 4 DLC will just be sitting there, unable to be played. One of the main reasons I quit playing the game is because I never got to play the DLC. If this is not implemented for Halo 4, I will not purchase any of the DLC for Halo 5. I refuse to waste my money 3 games in a row. I love supporting this game, but only if my money is going toward things I can actually play.

Sincerely,
A Frustrated Fan

I agree… but it will never happen.

Making most of the playlists ‘DLC required’ would probably only lower the already low population. One DLC playlist might work, but I could imagine it having a very small population at every given time.

The best strategy for 343i to get people to buy the DLC would be to cut the price of the map packs. That way, more people would buy it, and a potential DLC playlist would be more populated.

Customer loyalty means nothing to 343, only money.

If loyalty meant anything, they would’ve given bonuses in H4 to those with games played in previous Halos, not just the ones who spent the extra money on the limited edition, which I would have except they sold out too quickly.

In an ideal world, yes customer loyalty would be a big factor to corporations; however 343 clearly doesn’t consider it to be worth the effort.

That being said they’ll still a relatively newer company, and I’ve seen them slowly but steadily improve…so who knows maybe in H5 they’ll actually care about their loyal customers.

No that will hurt the pop as it would piss off the people who didn’t buy the DLC.

All 343i needs to do is this:

Now that Regicide is put in Rumble Pit and Legendary Slayer is going in IS 343i should merge BTIS and Skirmish to be Big Team Battle. Then we would have a bunch of room for two permanent DLC playlists:

Squad DLC- 5v5
Majestic Pack, Bullseye Pack, Harvest, Daybreak, and Forge Island variants. Mix of Slayer and Objective gametypes. (Majestic Pack, Bullseye Pack, and Forge Island required)

BTB DLC- 8v8
Crimson Pack, Castle Pack, and Forge Island variants. Mix of Slayer and Objective gametypes. (Crimson Pack, Castle Pack, and Forge Island required)

I agree with you completely, all I want to do is play the maps that I paid for. I have just recently gotten the maps because they looked really fun and my friends and I had a blast playing on those maps. The problem here is that not once have I gotten to play a single map from the first 3 dlc’s.

when people buy a game, they expect to be able to play it. they should not have to pay for extra dlc just to play the multiplayer. there’s already the $50 a year thing for all of live. adding another $40ish to that tag for a single game is absurd in the extreme. not everyone is gonna be able to buy that. free to play games often use that formula, but they use it because THAT is their source of revenue. THAT is how they pay their employees. but halo 4 already had that in the form of the price tag already on it. why should we have to add to that just so the people rich enough to spend money on video game content can do so and feel ok expecting everyone else to do the exact same? this, in my opinion, is akin to the “we f2p buyers own this game, so you all should just suffer” mentality that plagues the darker corners of those that buy “premium” objects/accounts/etc.
besides, from what ive seen on the forums, the dlc seems to be split in decision about how they feel about it. bugs/etc have been reported, and if this is at all as problematic as ive seen in posts here, then forcing people to buy the dlc will upset the community more than enrich it.

what i suggest, instead of just catering to the “you should all have it or stop playing” thought process, you should simply be able to opt to be included in “dlc only” groups of players, whom all share the dlc. this would guarantee you would be on even grounds.

the wait times would be longer, but if you can’t wait the extra time, clearly you didn’t really care about whether or not everyone had the DLC anyways.

besides that, wasn’t most of the DLC skins and armor? why should we be required to own armor(and a few new maps)? that’s… just absurd, in my humble opinion.

all that considered, i do think the champion bundle is pretty kick butt. ive heard good things about the new maps as well. i may actually buy all that stuff…
