Make Objective Items One Hit Kill Again

Flag and skull carriers were already vulnerable by not being able to shoot and having markers on their head. It’s weird that it’s now two hits to kill with those items when every other Halo was one hit. Please change it back.

I haven’t experienced past halo multiplayer besides splitscreen, but I could see this being both good and bad.

I’ve gotten triple kills with the oddball, but I’ve also been gunned down 5 feet from the guy walking backwards spraying me while holding it.

I think 2 hits makes it more satisfying just because of how frantic it can get in those situations. I dunno, I could take it or leave it.

Agree, flag and skull should be one-hit kill. Like they are in previous halo titles

Drop the item and fight or play with friends. It’s balanced as is.

I want them to bring back OHK objectives or give the carrier some form of decent defence. It can’t be equipment as the grapple would be op in CTF. Maybe grenades? But come on even when it was OHK the carrier was still easy to kill. Just keep your distance as unlike the sword it has no lunge, and if their in a small room, flood it with grenades and move in. You can also double melee faster than the carrier depending on the weapon. Oddball like this would really not work in Lone Wolf.

They’re detrimental but necessary to win objects.

Not power weapons.

Also it wasn’t every other Halo.

I’m conflicted on it, but agree that the carrier is too vulnerable, especially in oddball where you always have waypoint over your head. If you don’t at least trade with the ball carrier now, it truly is embarrassing.

Wow that is the longest BS statement I have ever read, that dev should’ve just said “I did it because it was easier for me to kill the carrier and I didn’t like getting one hit by the OBJ”

Nobody likes being one shotted by a pile of calcium.

yeah the flag carrier can run but that doesn’t save him from being shot power seeds maybe should do the same… or maybe give a power seed carrier permanant overshield while carrying it…

A good compromise is to have the H4/H5 approach of giving the Objective Carrier a Sidekick.

Even if Ske7ch’s reason was that the Objective controlling team needs a certain weakness, the fact that the Carrier is basically at the mercy of ranged weapons needs it to have a powerful melee. If they do not want to give 1 hit kill melees back, then at least let us help our team with ranged support using the Sidekick, which is a pretty decent weapon on itself.

A Sidekick + Faster Melee with Objective should round up the Carrier’s self preservation.

I feel like this change was made to make team play more focused on actually guarding the carrier compared to just having them camp in a corner Insta killing people while the rest of the team plays slayer. I’ve def had some more competitive games due to the change, and that’s not entirely bad

This is the worst rebuttal I’ve ever seen from a 343i employee.

OHK tends to make being the objective-carrier more personally rewarding or fun for 1 player while hurting the experience for the other 7; for teammates your assistance with the main goal is less important, and opponents’ efforts can feel too futile.

So what you’re saying is, you want to make the game less fun for the guy who is actually scoring the points enabling their team to win the match? Thats the most -Yoink!- backwards thing I’ve ever heard. There’s a reason why half of all ball carriers just drop the thing at the first sign of trouble instead of hold out and try to get close.

You already get your movement speed cut, you cant throw grenades, and if you choose to drop the ball, it takes a second for you to draw your weapon. Cutting OHK from objectives really makes you feel extremely weak. Why de-incentivize playing the objective? People who dont want to play objective gametypes can go play slayer.

Not gonna happen. They have a vision for the game and we can all just eat crap. They said they played with OHK settings and they “didn’t like it.”

This is COD MW-19 all over again.

I prefer two hits because it keeps playing the objective risky and demands teamwork. When the objective was a one hit melee (even with slower player movement) its offensive capabilities are just too great when holding the objective, especially with a good team, can be a real advantage.

In oddball’s case I think this leads to steam rolling significantly - though the ball holder melee is faster then regular melee and so an advantage in that way is present. This may not be the case with a flag since you are always trying to move the flag and not use it as a weapon but still.

The risk of holding an objective should also encourage folks to drop the objective and fight at times too - I don’t see that terribly often and it is super viable. Even more viable now that objectives don’t OHK. I think this promotes better team play while playing the objective.

When you hold the skull you can melee the fastest.

I’ve tested it, if it’s a 1v1 melee battle, the skull always when (when you spam melee)

Flag melee is slow, I rarely win in those battles, I usually melee with flag to drop shields and then drop it and start shooting!

But yeah legacy was 1 hit kill, they changed it. But now even different weapons have different melee speeds.

It should be like Halo 3. One hit in social and 2 hits in ranked. Gives people an incentive to pick it up in quick play even though winning doesnt matter. At the same time it preserves the teamwork required for ranked when its 2 hits

The sidekick worked well in H5 since other players could still sprint, slide, thrust, and spartan charge. In this game the flag carrier would be level with most other players if they had a sidekick especially since you can sprint and slide with the flag in this game which you couldnt in halo 5

If not, give us a weapon, like it does put the objective holder at a disadvantage.
