Make mandatory gamechat playlist in Halo 5

When Im not in a party with my friends Ill sometimes go on Halo 4 muiltiplayer and play by myself.

During my playtime of multiplayer 9/10 of the lobbys that I end up in will consist of people that are either:

1.Simply not talking

2.In a party

3.Dont have a mic

or
4.Refusing to plug in their mic

Thought I think people being in parties are the main reasons for this issue the only way to really fix this is making gamechat mandatory for only some playlist. Believe it or not this comes with extra benefits as well.

  1. More/better communication with teammates making it better and easier to involve teamwork into matches.

  2. Possibly make Halo more popular. On the gaming side of Youtube trolling is very popular. When people make trolling gaming videos on Youtube Cod is the best place to go to and troll people because its almost guaranteed to find someone with a mic because you have gametypes like SND. And if Halo had gamechat only playlist than you’ll be seeing more Halo vids on youtube compared to Cod vids possibly boosting Halo’s popularity.

NOTE: Dont get the wrong idea Im not trying to encourage trolling in Halo.

Yes this would be great. I hate going into games and seeing that half of the players are in parties and the other half don’t have mics . But make it mandatory for some playlists and not all.

I agree.
I’ve been hoping for a gametype like SnD in Halo for so long.

I personally think all majorly competitive playlists such as Throwdown should have forced gamechat.
So there should only be two playlists with forced gamechat.
Those being Team Throwdown and Halo’s SnD equivalent.

I agree. Team Throwdown is a good example of a playlist that needs to have mandatory gamechat.

Do it for the more competitive ranked playlists, but not all of those either. Like you said, Throwdown should have it.

Well seeing that Kinect is included and has to be plugged into the X1 then everyone has the ability to chat, unless they turn it off for whatever reason like background noise and if it picks up their games sound. I rarely use a mic but I might start doing so when the new consoles come out, but anyways, you won’t hear any excuses from people saying they don’t have a mic as everyone on X1 will.

This will mean the kinect’s mic must be on when joining certain playlist that require in game chat.

This would be a nice idea. It would be nice though that those kind of playlists wouldn’t have exclusive variations of different game modes. Being a person who just can’t talk to people while playing something, I wouldn’t want to miss the modes but I wouldn’t want to ruin the playlist for others by plugging a mic and not talking.

Nah, forcing people to go into game chat won’t make them all suddenly start talking.
Most will just mute their mics.

Forcing me to talk to a bunch of screaming little kids?

No thank you…

Forced gamechat will just make people:

  1. Not play the playlist.
  2. Have a mic on and don’t talk.
  3. Mute everyone.

It won’t help. Just make sure you friend anyone who has a mic so you’ll have a good amount of people to play with as the future rolls in.

That is why I said for only some playlist. If people feel like its necessary to mute the whole lobby because they refuse to communicate with their teammates then thats their problem. Halo needs mandatory gamechat for some competitive playlist. Gamechat currently in Halo is dead.

I wouldn’t want them to make it like that. I think they should just restrict you from being in a party.

For you to assume that screaming little kids are going to be people that you’ll be paired up with in matches is absolutely ridiculous. I dont know where you get the idea that only little kids, screaming ones specifically play Halo.

And seeing how Xbox One has a new reputation system the only way apparently for you to be paired up with little kids is if you’re a little kid yourself. If this suggestion got implemented into Halo 5 then nobody is really forcing you to go about it because like I said in the OP which I highlighted in bold I said for “only some playlist”.

And Im pretty sure they’ll still have a mute option so there’s no need to worry.

I think a lot of people want to do gamechat but nobody will do it when it finally comes down to it because they can’t be -Yoinked!- to for whatever reason. Hm. How about a preference one can set for other players you do MM with to have a mic?

Having a myriad of 9- to 16-year-olds cursing and complaining at the game (since those are the only players who seem to use mics)? No thanks. Game chat is dead in Halo because of them.

Whenever I hear someone using a mic in Halo its hardly every something constructive. Don’t assume I’m a little kid just because I don’t like your bogus forced mic idea.

The only time the mic is useful was in Halo 2 and early Halo 3. People back then did some REAL teamwork. Nowadays no one is on mic unless its a troll or some kid. I only get constructive mic use in Halo 4 when I am in a party with teammate’s doing critical planning.

If you want constructive mic use then party up with people. I think 343 should focus on other things then making multiple playlists JUST for people whom apparently don’t exist.. Mics died a long time ago for a reason.

The best thing would be a filter like they had in Reach (whether or not it worked is debatable) where you can turn it on and it pairs you with other players with mics.

Or maybe in halo 5 add a filter where you can only play with people that have mics.

I forgot to mention a filter option but I have a choice in the poll that supports that.

I like that as long as the new kinect mic doesn’t echo what the other person TV sounds are. Cause nowadays that the most annoying thing about people who use their kinect as mic.

I like game chat, and the team that communicates the best, normally wins.

But having a Mic should NOT be compulsory.

Would you like to be in a game where everyone in your team is under 12 and screaming, because they have to have Mics to play. I wouldn’t, and glad some people don’t have mics.

Best to try find a full party with mics, that are normal people and stick with them.
