I don’t like the way that everyone needs an Xbox ive account to play. Remember in OG and 360 where you can create offline profiles without needing internet. I know you can play MCC without internet but say if someone wants to create an Xbox live account and you need internet to create one which is annoying and unfair for those who don’t get to lay it when they have no internet. Halo 5 was way worse as you can only play campaign if yoy have no internet. It’s also annoying that you can’t earn achievements if you’re connected as its clpud powered only and that always on DRM put people off.
Oh absolutely cause not everyone has good internet hence why lot of people have an issue with cloud gaming the internet infrastructure just isnt there yet to make matters worse is data caps as well

yeah its like ubisoft does Uplay and EA does it as well. Good thing i can play halo wars 1 Xbox one edition offline but wobt save as yoy arent signed in. If Scarlett can make it offline, then it’ll sell more consoles with Halo since ps4 reached 100 million and Nintendo is catching up to us fast
Absolutely, the only thing that should require an online connection is matchmaking. I always thought it was pretty underhanded how they made everything online-only in Halo 5.
Generally all game modes should not require the ‘always online’ except for obviously ‘matchmaking’ while custom games should be playable offline or online, the same goes for Forge.

As far as Campaign goes, I think it’s required to be connected in case they need to make a live patch to it. Sometimes things break in the campaign or they’ve made the AI too easy/hard and it needs to be fixed. For it to do that, you need to be connected. I agree though, you should be able to do everything save for matchmaking without a connection. Unless they’re going to provide everyone with at least decent, unlimited data usage internet, they really shouldn’t be locking people off because of it.

I agree. However, it’s my opinion that it will depend on it being a game as a service or not. I hope it has offline for those that want it, but I have my doubts about this one.
Edit. I just asked my children aged 11 and 12 if Hallo Infinite should be playable offline ? Answer is, it doesn’t matter, we’re always online anyway. I have to agree and I have stated this before, “I cannot recall the last time I played on my Xbox offline”

I’m not sure, they did learn their mistake from making Halo 5 only offline to campaign. At least MCC had LAN parties so i think they will prob do the same but try and make it better.

There is literally no good reason whatsoever why a campaign should be online only…if they want a patch then fine then people can fix their games but it shouldn’t make my games unplayable just because a dev possibly rushed out a game.

I feel the same way and I’d rather be connected to Live than not. But, I guess my thinking is that you shouldn’t be forced to have to connect to Live in order to play any mode. If Live has a service outage (and it often does), people can’t play anything but campaign in H5. LAN parties are still a thing, but no one plays H5. It’s all about keeping those options open so people can play if there’s no access to Live for whatever reason.

Well, Campaign is available on or offline for Halo 5 and even MCC. So it’s never been locked behind an internet requirement barrier as far as I know so far.

I hope you’re right and get your wish. I think it will be offline campaign like Halo 5 or totally online if it’s games as a service.
All in all, the campaign being internet free isn’t going to happen for much longer. Take that really popular building and fighting game everyone knows, they’ve had seasons with new releases and new weapons and skins … ect ect ect, the new halo was speculated to be an open world where the missions are throughout the world and it will probably be connected to unlocks and updates and new content daily. Plus there’s less of a way they’re gonna release a bunch of discs every time there’s an update…
Maybe people with bad internet connection can go to the library and rent a conference room and connect to the internet to update their xbox’s and halo. (just an idea)
But they are also speculating that multiplayer will be free and the campaign will cost money, maybe even per season, hopefully they release a all inclusive pass, pre release.

Umm in Halo 5 the only thing that is playable is the campaign and they forced online all other modes like Forge and custom games despite none of them ever needing to in all previous Halo game’s, they have updated Halo 5 to include lan and yet we still can’t play those offline and basically means unplayable if hoping to play it a convention with awful internet and that’s quite a common problem, which is why most end up showing MCC or Halo 4 on the 360 instead of Halo 5. MCC is fully playable so your point makes no sense. And without the day 1 patch Halo 5…is unplayable.
A game that isn’t worth playing without an internet connection is basically resolving itself to be destroyed by the passage of time. Even (original) Halo 4, whose terminals rely on waypoint and spartan ops pointlessly requires a gold account, is massively devalued because of this.
If online functionality is not a fundamental/required aspect, there is no excuse.
Campaign, forge, firefight, customs, theater, and couch co-op represent countless hours of enjoyment that doesn’t need to be gated.

Oh, that’s some -Yoink-. I shouldn’t have to pay to play campaign. Why does multiplayer get to be free? It should be the other way around.
Glad I saw this post, That’s my biggest complaint and criticism of Halo 5: Solo Campaign only when offline, with everything else gated off.
How about we go the route of classic gaming and truly classic Halo? Pay 60 bucks and you get a full game that at launch, is playable offline, except for online matchmaking (obviously) with all the content a Halo should have when offline: Campaign, Firefight, Customs, Forge, Theater and Splitscreen.
I’m hoping the inclusion of Splitscreen in all Halo titles going forward means that it’s a requirement to play all the content except online matchmaking when offline. There’s ZERO Point to having all the content like Custom Games and Forge in a no-splitscreen halo title when it’s offline (Theater and Firefight obviously can work)
Having splitscreen again going forward means we SHOULD have access to Custom games, Firefight, Theater and Forge when offline, that’s a big part of “Classic Halo” in my eyes that Halo 5 fails at, and every other game succeeds at. (Baring Halo 4 terminals)
For as much I don’t like Halo: Reach, I love that I can splitscreen, forge, and do everything but Matchmaking when I’m offline! THAT’S something in my books Halo Infinite and all Halo Titles should do. THAT’S a big part of classic halo to me.
