Make it more clear that the “Add Poll?” option will get your thread moved to the Polling Booth forum by adding a parenthetical explanation next to the option. Instead of simply saying:
Add Poll
Make it say
Add Poll (only allowed in Polling Booth forum)
or something along those lines
Thoughts?
This is not a bad idea. Hopefully people will get the idea by seeing polls get moved though if this can’t be done.

It shouldn’t even be a message indicating it. The Poll option should ONLY be available in the Poll Forum.

That would be ideal but unfortunately that isn’t an option.
I really get the feeling that a lot of the posts that end up here in polling wouldn’t but do because the option for a poll comes up and it’s like, “Oooooh! Yeah, let me make one.” or something.

People just need to read the rules.

It’s not even like the Rules/Terms here are ANYWHERE near as long as any other Terms and Agreements. It lays out the basics. Pretty cut and dried.

As evidenced by the large number of threads that need to be moved to the Polling Booth Forum, people obviously don’t bother reading the rules. I wish they did, but since they don’t, we have to take simple measures like these to clue them in.
At the bottom of the page where it shows permissions can you take away permission to make polls in all forums except the polling forums? Since I know you can do that with some softwares for websites maybe it could apply here as well

I believe I remember that too. Maybe it’s one of the things they will get to eventually.
It could be done, but a developer would have to do it. It isn’t as simple as toggling the option, or anything an admin can do.
They should remove the poll feature from all forums except the Pollong Booth forum. It would make much easier on those who aren’t familar with the site.

This would be the ideal approach, but that solution seemed so obvious that I assumed there was some unknown reason that it couldn’t happen.
