Make Halo Metal Again

Halo 4 and 5’s tracks gave off an “above average sci-fi movie” feel, and after playing Halo 2 again, I really must say, we need to headbang again. I want some of this in Halo Infinite, even though it seems like it will primarily take inspiration from CE.

YEH get some RIP and TEAR in there

Sprinkle some BFG in there too while we’re at it.

Haha, one of the funnier topics I’ve seen. Truth be told I don’t think that would work as well in this day and age. Rock music was very prevalent in the early 2000’s. Not so much now. Plus, it seemed like a one-off thing that the series nailed perfectly and shouldn’t try to replicate.

It’s not as prevalent in modern society, sure, but it’s a part of Halo, and nobody saw it as a bad thing. The music of Halo 2 is undeniably a huge positive for the game and adds to the enjoyment of the players experience. People want to feel tough, to feel like a one-man army, and that genre of music is perfect for that.

I think it would be nice to have both classical and metal versions of the same tracks in the game; blow our minds a little bit,

Kayne West produced Halo album

jk?

When Marty was composing the music for the Halo games back in Bungie era, he knew that each game had a different feel, and the music reflected that. When asked about why Halo 3 used piano as the main solo instrument over guitar like in Halo 2, he said that he had had enough of the guitar, and Halo 3 was a different atmosphere. Then you look at ODST, which had a very different sound design, evoking the feeling of mystery, intrigue, investigation. Then finally, Halo Reach, with sound design reflecting large-scale war, hopelessness, loss.

Tl;dr, the music in each Halo game should fit the atmosphere of the game. Halo Infinite’s music shouldn’t be guitar heavy and rock-inspired just because you like it. The music needs to fit the narrative.

Watch your mouth son this stuff is your history

Yeeeeees more metal soundtracks please, I want some nice guitar again.

Couldn’t agree more. Its one of the reasons why Halo 2 is my favorite game, with songs like In Amber Clad making you feel like such a badass and creating a more gritty atmosphere. Bring Steve Vai back to shred the main theme again!

Hey, there was some rockin’ guitar in CE, too: https://youtu.be/tRnAfHodtPc?t=592
