Game pass is not free to play though. Is it a really good deal? yes. But not free. Making it ftp would help with the playerbase is what Iā€™m saying. I already own Halo mcc so it doesnt matter for me.

I donā€™t think free-to-play would help the playerbase.
It would over-inflate it with players that donā€™t know how to play the games.
And thus, matches will be made more frustrating as you will have players that make the game harder to deal with.
Imagine having half of your team made up of free-to-play guys who make it an automatic loss because you are playing with someone who is essentially a Marine-level bot?

Have you ever played Siege during Free-to-Play weekends?
You either end up with bottom-tier players or you end up with a super-easy victory.
There is no in-between.

Thatā€™s the case with Mcc in general though lol. It would atleast help make playlists like Infection and Invasion not completely dead. As it stands, arena is the only playlist you can activrly find matches in.

Yes they should make it free because the playerbase needs it. And to the people who say its still well populated are clearly not playing Halo lmao. There is not one single Halo game at this moment who is well populated unless you think 3k players is a great population for Halo haha.

Nope nope nope nope, mobius strip made of NOPE! Free to play is a BAD model itā€™s been proven time and time again. MCC is meant to be for older fans, not 100% intended to draw in new ones. Keep Free to Play as far away from MCC as physically possible.

3K players is pretty good for an 8 YEAR OLD GAME.

The MCC collection got recently 8 seasons and its supported for PC new GEN Xbox and cloud gaming plus the PC lauch only started on December 2019 with on Reach, people had to wait much longer for the other titles to be released and people really wanted to play the games on PC but the fact that MCC is soo buggy and glitchy drove so many players away but thatā€™s for another topic, 3k is very low. Its not like a game on the 360 where most people moved on to new gen, MCC is more accessible than ever but still 360 Halo was more popular last years than MCC. We are talking about 6 games in MCC who are all accessible on multiple platforms soooā€¦ 3K is very low for 6 games combined and especially for Halo.

Again itā€™s an 8 year old game, most people playing it have either grown up and donā€™t have time, or just moved on. 3K is the dedicated fanbase. 3K is NOT low numbers for an 8 year old game composed of MUCH older games.

I agree MCC is still pretty buggy, but itā€™s still receiving updates and 343 DOES bug fix the game. There are some issues that are harder to iron out than others.

Iā€™ve been playing Halo since 2009. Yes I pre-ordered MCC on Xbox, itā€™s what convinced me to get an Xbox One. I was able to host custom games fairly easily actually, which is typically what I do. There was no reason for me to go into matchmaking, no level ups, no unlocks, nothing.

What you seem to fail to realize is that there are 6 games total, this isnā€™t a game meant to bring in NEW fans, itā€™s a game for the diehard fans, and a lot of those die hard fans are either tired of Halo or have grown up and donā€™t have time for it anymore. Thatā€™s why the population numbers seem low. And when you take into account that again most of these games are over a decade old, the low population numbers make sense.

Iā€™ve bought the disc and Iā€™ve bought the game on steam so no donā€™t make it free to play. It frequently goes on sale anyways.
