Make H5G Spartans look like Halo 3 or Reach!

I was very disappointed with the overall design of the Spartans in Halo 4 for two main reasons. (1) The Halo 4 Spartans or Spartan IV’s look very very skinny. I know the new GEN 2 undersuit is a new form fitting model, but come on gaminganimal.co.uk, they have the arms of a wee baby. Plus all the gaps in the armor used to be filled by the old undersuit, providing more protection, unlike the new cardboard thin one. (2) The Halo 4 armor looks more plastic than metal. I like being reminded I’m a super soldier in huge Titanium power armor. I don’t want the armor to look like it came straight out of a blender, but also not mint condition. At the very least, make the Mark VI look exactly like it did in Halo 2 and 3 if it makes a return in Halo 5, original undersuit included. Mark VI’s chest plate and shoulders in Halo 4 looked nothing like the original, and something about the helmet seemed odd but I cant quite figure it out. To summarize it all, make the SUPER SOLDIERS look like SUPER SOLDIERS.

There is already a thread for this that was made not to long ago.

Since its not on the first page I won’t be a grump so lets get to it.

Halo 4 SIVs simply look like weak plastic toys. Yes these are not Spartans who have been training all their lives but at least make it look like the augmentations did something besides make them taller. The SIIIs in Reach looked amazing because they were bigger, stronger looking, and battle worn. If the SIIIs and IVs were standing next to each other I would say that the IIIs would win in a fight because they LOOK like battle hardened super soldiers. In Reach I like the design so much better because of the worn look, matte coloring, and bulkiness. (Although some got way out of hand and made their Spartan look like the fattest dude on the planet.) The SIVs looked tiny and weak. The armor was way to plastic looking and it looked fresh off the production line. The skins were a cool idea but it made the armor look worse in my opinion. The armor looked as if it was crumpled tinfoil too. (not all of them)

That’s the end of my little rant though.

Don’t get me started with the Elite armor either. or do.

Thets how they supposed to look like, they have more muscle then fat. No beefed up arms that look ridiculous and silly and wonder how they move their arms.

The armor is meant to be practical and not a clunky mess with armor bumping onto other peices of armor.

The Gen 2 armor is heavily armored in every aspect only lacking armor plates on the abdomen which is already armored by the Titanium CNT. The armor isn’t like a body vest worn by modern military that makes it hard to bend over with, its supposed to act like a second skin. Also energy shields; you have energy shields and below that you have about half a ton worth of armor thats almost completely impervious to human small arms weapons. Good armor.

I would add that 343i added a ton of unneeded and silly armor customization and some silly helmets. An yeah; the under suit mesh does not blend in very well with the in game graphics, but does look very appealing in cinematic. Maybe they would fix that with the xbox one with its better graphics.

In addition I would add that I wouldn’t mind a tiny beef up of the Spartans, but not to ridiculous levels.

The Reach armor was a bit much. Mine wears straight up Mark V all around (the CE look) and he looks like Chief on steroids. His beefiness actually makes him look shorter, not tall & lean.

Whereas my Mark V in Halo 4 looks exactly like Chief in CE … with, for some annoying reason, a partially green under suit.

I just want a better female model (one that isn’t just a skinny, anorexic looking male).

Depends. U can also decide to just wear default armor, with nothing added to it. Adding female and the robot arm to it and u have a very lean looking spartan. The female model in Reach actually looks female with curves and so on.

you must remember that the spartan 4s all of them were proboly odst before that and if you have noticed they are not the strongest. spartan 2 were created as children and cost a -Yoink- ton of money so the spartan 2 was ultimately the best they had strength and they lived long lives. spartan 3 were also children but got taken from orphanages and were supposed to be the cheaper version of spartan 2 which meant they werent as strong and though, but in the end most of the spartan 3 were meant to die so oni and unsc would have more time against the covenant. spartan 4s is basically odst with shield that what i think at least, and its so many spartan 4 meaning that they were proboly very cheap to make also sparing money on armor

Take a cue from Reach, please.

I want Mjolnir powered assault armor. Reach did this very well, as did Halo’s 2 and 3.

That is to say, the character models need to look like they can augment strength and do so much more. It should look like it weighs a half ton. After all, it contains a fusion reactor, biofoam injectors, force multiplier circuits for boosting the force applied by the user, reactive circuits, shield generators, etc.

Halo 4’s armor didn’t convey any of this to me. It looked like a skinsuit with armor plating here and there. There was no integration, no no connections, no force multiplication or hardware beneath that plating, just a skinsuit.

good point! now as i think of it you are right, its just looks like they put some armor on doesn’t really look like they actually have shields or anything like that

I think its safe to say most Halo players would rather have Halo Reach or Halo 3 Spartan models over the new Halo 4 ones. Or just mix the two together, Muscular, tall, armor that emphasizes that (like the Mark VI chestplate from H3). Make the Spartans actually look like they can lift thousands of pounds and break bones with a single punch.

Not only do the SIVs look shiny and plastic but in Spartan Ops they were so slow. I think that cutscene with Thorne and Gek in hand to hand combat was painstakingly slow.

Ugh I complain to much about SIVs but it just bothers me so much.

The female model in Reach actually looks like they would be in constant, unbearable pain due to the unnatural curve they have in their spine.

The armor used for the Spartan IVs is supposed to be lighter and more mobile. Speed and agility.

The undersuit may look weak, but it is a titanium nanocomposite. That will be tanking a lot of hits. The armor is arranged in critical areas, but offer more flexibility and functionality. With numerous technological upgrades to the armor, the apparent lack of armor in some areas is negligible.

That said, I would like them to be covered a little bit more. Make it look a bit more sturdy.

Thorne had been beaten and is exhausted, he also had a rock smashed in his face.

In a previous cutscene he killed a wave of Elites in hand to hand combat very quickly.

Yes he was tired and a little beaten but for goodness sakes he is a Spartan. Humanity’s finest super soldiers and he was tired? Come on Spartans can fall from the freaking atmosphere! I just expected more to come out of the Spartan IVs. Maybe in H5 we will see some more SIV action.

Otherwise I think Thorne is a cool character. He has potential.

Well the purpose of the sp4s is to make them look more athletic than the sp2s and 3s. Because they don’t need all of that bulky armor since the tech in their armor makes up for that. And the fact is that they can actually take out an average sp2 since they have the upgraded tech. But they need their armor on to do so otherwise they would get demolished. Since they don’t have the hardcore training the sp2s and sp3s had. They need to rely on their armor and tech for most things which is a bit of a drawback. Because sp2s had their combat skills naturally and trained a lot more and they didn’t always need their armor. But sp4s don’t have that gift so they need to wear armor just to break even with a skilled sp2 thats unarmed and without armor as well.

PLEASE explain how they can do this with there super advanced plastic armor? I would love to know how any SIV could take on someone like Linda, Kelly, or Fred?

I said an average SP2 and those 3 are not average.

Considering the way and style of customizing your Spartan has each had it’s own in different ways, I’m kinda sure we’ll see something different yet again in Guardians.

And seriously, did Halo 4 do anything right on these forums?!

> I said an average SP2 and those 3 are not average.

Ok then explain to me why a S4 like Grant could take on a S2 like Douglas. More advanced armor doesn’t cut it for me. S4s have not been trained to fight since they were 6 years old. S2s have a huge advantage just because of their training.

Yes that is what usually happens but there are a lot of people who don’t like the style of H4 armor and some who do so we are trying to talk about it and hope we can agree on a better design for H5 that we hope to see.

H4 did not do anything right on these forums. There are a lot of problems that need to be fixed.
