Flood mode lacks from all infection playlists since halo 2 customs. Zombies were never meant to be so good that they can lunge from freaking 20ft away and thrust pack “evade” across the whole map.
Zombies was always meant to take numbers and team work to take out the humans. The zombies are way to strong and the gametype/playlist needs some adjustments.
Flood changes:
Option 1 - Decrease lunge, remove thruster pack, Give them speed boost, and take only 1 to 2 pistol shots to kill.
Option 3 - Lunge unchanged, thruster remains, 1 shot to the head “pistol”, same jump height.
Honestly i think any of these changes would improve this game type drastically. The zombies are way over-powered and matches do not last very long because of them being insanely better. At least 343 could make new gametypes for zombies like “Alpha zombies” in reach which made the gametype playable without evade.
Last man Standing:
What is even the point of being the last man standing when you die within seconds. The last man needs a overshield or “power-up” that allows you to live from a couple pumbles. Its pointless when your last man and 1 melee kills you.
Last man traits - 1 overshield, Take less damage, and increase speed slightly.
The last man standing needs to be somewhat more powerful so a normal zombie doesnt just have that instinct to think he can take him out by himself.
Flood should be how it used to be instead of a mess that it is now. Most players wont even understand any of this because they havent played zombies since halo 2 customs or halo 3 and do not understand how it should play. I hope 343 understand that infection was made by the community and that they change it for the better or at least understand that there could be different versions of flood to see what the fans like.
Infection to Alpha zombies was the best thing 343i did for reach for infection itself. They finally just removed betrayals from flood which it should have been removed when halo 4 released.
At least the zombies (well, flood now) can actually win in Halo 4, but they are a little OP. The least they could do is give something to last man standing because right now being last man standing means that it’s just easier for the flood to find you with your huge “please kill me” marker over your head. I’d rather give flood infinite sprint instead of thruster.
Yeah no. This is flood mode. We are fighting FLOOD not zombies. the only similarity they share is infecting people. But zombies and flood act very differently. IMO its better. I like the fact that we actually have a challenge as humans. In reach we just had boring stand offs till people messed up and got infected. B.O.R.I.N.G.
Flood is the same thing as infection. It just that you have a different character model. It has nothing to do with you being a “flood model”. The basic core of infection/zombies is what flood is.
The claw is just a re-skinned sword, you infect players, there is a last man standing, and you have only pistols and shotguns.
It is infection. If it was a new game mode that was nothing like infection then i wouldnt have made this thread. Zombies in reach i agree were way to weak and was unfair most of the time but thats how zombies was intended to be since the beginning.
Zombies in this game should only have shields that prevent 1 shot kills but they shouldnt have the thruster pack. If they took out thruster since it replaces evade which no one like in reach then it would be bad.
If they made it 2 pistol shots to kill, made the zombies sprint faster then normal, remove thruster then it would play flawlessly. The problem is that there isnt strategy involved in killing the humans in flood. The only strategy is thruster and melee at the same time to kill someone. You shouldnt be able to thruster and melee at the same time so you would have to time your thruster since you have a crazy far lunge anyways.

Infection in Reach didn’t really have a “boring” feel to me like it did for RazrStorm. It did however feel like the zombies didn’t stand a chance when there was someone who knows how to play it very it well.
I’m happy that they boosted the power of the Flood this time around. However, I agree with Steve that the lunge distance is insanely huge… I think the thruster pack has a big part in being the problem. I mean you can seriously lunge across the entire map when you play haven… That seems like problem to me.
Finding a middle ground so that it’s possible to live the entire round but still propose a challenge for the humans is hard. I know that, but its 343’s job to test that and find it. Maybe they’ll figure it out for Halo 5? Who knows… I’m all for lowering the overall power of the flood, but they still need to be a challenge and not underpowered like Reach.
My #1 complaint about zombies, or whatever you want to call it, is the lack of real maps. Team Slayer/CTF maps weren’t designed for zombies in mind, which in Reach is what led to games being so unfair and difficult for the infected. Why 343 “solved” this by making the Flood 10x more powerful than before I’ll never know.
I also don’t like that they now have shields. It’s not as painful as the gametype in Halo 3 with the invisible zombies holding Gravity Hammers running around at the speed of sound, but it’s still a bad choice.
Thruster pack is bearable, provided it’s altered so they can’t jump across the ENTIRE map with it. And unlike Evade, we can still headshot them while they’re using it and it gives them a new tool. Thanks for that at least.
While we’re on the issue, Flood need to be able to hold weapons in customs, and we need to let humans have different armor colors than neon green.
More gametypes and new maps designed for Infection would make the playlist a lot better. I always had trouble dealing with Reach’s Infection playlist, but Halo 3’s haunted mansion maps and what not was much preferable. I’d love to see some community maps and gametypes in the Flood playlist, it really needs it.

The flood in this game are infected spartans. Spartans have shields. The only reason flood in past games didn’t have shields consistantly on infected elites was due to difficulty. Not canonical reasons. The flood have the ability to use anything and everything the person had or used including there memories. If your going to try to pull cannon on me brush up on it instead of sounding like a half wit.

Everything in flood mode is to make the flood more flood like. In any game we fought flood they could “lunge” at us from a decent range. Hence the increase in range on lunge.
The flood always knew where you were hence pro vision.
In halo 2 some flood had active camo. And since flood can use anything the person they infected had=flood have camo.
Flood are quick agile and can jump great distances=thruster pack.
343 tried to sell halo 4 based on cannon reasons. Story involved. Made things believable in the halo universe. And everything in flood mode matches cannon reasons.
And if none of that is good enough the name alone should be. FLOOD. not zombies.
Your complaining because its too hard for you. Well sorry but flood sorry “infection” is no longer a kill farm. A good player lasts a good amount of time. Get better.

We must have fought different Flood then. Because I vividly remember Flood Elites having shields.

Everything they did with flood mode fits canocial behavior of actual flood and thats the point 343 was trying to make. The flood arn’t push overs. They are a challenge and if you actually spent a good amount of time in flood you would get good enough to survive longer. I’m usually always one of the last 3 to be infected.
It all falls down to people not being able to farm kills in infection anymore which IMO is the best thing they could have done.
No
Your reasons are basically “It’s not the same as previous games”
The Zombies were horrendously underpowered in previous games, and if you started a round as a zombie, you basically were screwed for that round.
No amount of Zombie Team work was going to save you…think back to Boardwalk…
There were NO angles to come from, you could be pistol-ed half way down the map.
I feel flood is more evened, and gives both sides a fair chance, and actually allows the people who are more skilled to win, rather than the people who were lucky enough to be human every round.

Again, the zombies weren’t underpowered. The maps were not made for zombies and made it horribly unfair.

This ^
The new flood mode is so bad I can barely play it humans cant even last more than a minute.

jesus, no need to get pissy about it…
Its been years for me since playing the earlier halos, apologies for my spotty human memories.
anyways, my point still stands. either thruster pack/shields/lunge range/movement speed needs a fix.
