In just a bit over a month Reach will be 3 years old. That has given people plenty of time to purchase the map packs for Reach or change over to Halo 4 (or back to 3).
My suggestion is that 343 start making popular playlists such as BTB, living dead, etc become DLC required so that the people who purchased the map packs actually get to play on them. Obviously we’ll still need some non-dlc playlists, but the key is to not make a replica playlist like 2 versions of BTB (one with the dlc and one without). This would split the populations across the playlists too much.
This approach worked for Halo 3 and will work for Reach.
It only worked on Halo 3 because a large amount of the community bought Halo 3: ODST which came bundled with the Halo 3 Mythic disc, meaning everyone had all the maps.
Halo: Reach never got the same treatment and based off the DLC playlists populations (and how much BTB dropped in population when it was accidentally made DLC required once), it isn’t going to happen.
if they would drop the cost of the packs down… Checking a second ago on xbox page, the anniversay is 15bucks, 2 of the 3 packs were 10. Just between those 3, thats 35 bucks for an old game. if they were all were like 5 bucks apiece, it would be easier sell for a 3 year old game.
Part of what pissed alot of people off and they didnt buy later packs dealt with the intergration of the maps in playlist. Once they took the dlc playlist out, you were very luck if you got to play on dlc maps.

I hated when they required DLC on halo 3. Why pay money for an old game? They should make the map packs for free, if anything, then require DLC. It would be unfair to loyal fans and the overall playing numbers would plummet.
Unfeasable I think.
I would like either (or even better, both) of the following:
- Cheaper DLC. Not just now but from the start. It’s just too much for a few maps, ridiculous if you compare to prices of full games. I’d rather spend the money for like DLC of Reach+4 on one extra game I get to play. (I got the DLC though, but I can totally see why many people didn’t). If this would cause financial losses (which I highly doubt), then increase the price on the full game with like 1 euro/dollar. Voila, enough money to drop DLC prices, more people will get it, etc…
- DLC only as a search restriction (like connection, language, skill). That it just takes longer but pairs you with DLC owners, no matter what. They are out there but the system prefers finding you a quick match. That way, you never get to play those maps (unless you can manage a full party of dlc owners).
YES! For the the love of Talos please add DLC playlist. I am tired of not being able to play these maps that I spent my hard earned money on and only playing them for a few months until they changed all the playlist. I would love for this to happen!
Add a DLC playlist,
But don’t do what halo 3 did,
As they said above.
It only worked because the majority of players bought halo ODST wich came with all DLC,
Halo reach players are already low.
Doing that will make it REALLY low.
But adding a DLC playlist is good because I could never play my DLC I bought,
Though with the amount of players that are even on reach these days I think the playlist would only be like 50-100 players
343 would never do it.
All they will do is consolidate playlists and get rid of playlists.
