I think the game has been out long enough that I highly doubt anyone else will buy the DLC. As a result, I think dlc maps should be made free in an update so that playlists are no longer behind a paywall. It’d make finding players easier as well as increasing the population of reach a bit if they make the update public enough
I hate the idea because anyone loyal enough to buy the dlc are now being screwed because everyone else is getting a free pass to them just because they were not loyal enough

If they do then ill start looking at 343 differently. Otherwise they are still the company which cant work their own franchise efficiently and properly
I think they should make all the maps free as part of a mandatory game update, like they’ve been doing for Halo 5’s DLC. That way we’ll actually get to play them without everyone having to download them manually.
It would also be a great way to get more people back into Halo: Reach. Free DLC for everyone? And I would finally get to play the maps I already paid for…
Oh, and throw in the UA/Multi-Threat chest piece. No reason to keep that armor restricted anymore.

Do shut up. I just want to play the DLC I paid for. If this is the only way any of us will ever get to (and it is), then so be it. They can hand out the maps like Halloween candy for all I care, so long as I get to play the maps I paid for 6 years ago.

Yes and no to this. Yes, because I spent $20 on the DLC, then $40 on CEA, so I’d be a little peeved if someone got it for free now. But then again, it is 6 years later. Not exactly a game in its prime. I’d love to play the maps I paid for as I think Reach has the best DLC maps of any Halo, so I definitely think releasing it would be beneficial.
On the same topic, I’d almost much rather have ALL the Halo 3 DLC released for free first. 50% of it is already, why not make the rest of it so? Of course, by the same token, it is all in the MCC, which is basically Halo 3 anyway.

This I don’t agree with. I think there are things that should honestly remain restricted as exclusive bonuses. It’s like The Sgt. Johnson firefight character from ODST, or blue flames in Reach. I understand that some people don’t have the opportunity of having it being late to the movie, but that’s just it. Not everyone gets a trophy. I was a poor college kid at the time of Reach’s launch, and didn’t pre-order from Gamestop, but still go the code for the chest because I wanted it.
Despite me buying the maps this week, I agree make them free, give the people what they want 343! it’s a 6 year old game, it wouldn’t matter if they made them free as 343 have made so much money through the silly microtransactions, which should go, leave them to CoD.
As much as I love this idea, I really do. I can’t see it happening anytime soon. Sadly, I can’t see -Yoink!- giving away DLC’s for an old game away for free. Especially, with it being on the backwards compatibility. Still, would be pretty sweet!
They did this with Halo 4s DLC, a few days where the season pass was free. Even if they just had a week of free DLC, it would give lots of people the chance to get it. A lot of the achievements are impossible to get because of the fact that they require DLC maps in matchmaking.
Achievements aside, more variety is always nice. Currently I only have the Anniversary pack (from the origins bundle), and while the one firefight map in it is honestly not that great, I still fire it up occasionally for a change of scenery.
