Many of the problems of Reach’s BTB can be traced to the incredibly long ranged DMR. This can easily be rectified by making the starting weapons the AR and Pistol. This will reduce the cross mapping experienced heavily in BTB, along with making vehicles much more effective. Of course, DMR lovers will still find their weapons scattered among the maps, but they will no longer hold such a huge advantage off spawn.

I think you have it the other way around. The DMR was in Big Team Battle in the first place was because the maps in Big Team Battle were big. The DMR is a mid ranged to long ranged, so they put it in there. Assault Rifle starts would be rather stupid, considering you are on a big map.
This has been tried in just about every installment of the game; certain maps make it problematic. Blood Gulch, say. It’s big and open. Lots of walking. If everyone has assault rifles except a select few, the select few have a ginormous advantage. On maps like Headlong I agree. The less cover there is, though, the greater the necessity for cross-mappin’ action.
Yeah, I always hated how weak the vehicles turned to be against DMRs on Reach, barely -Yoink!- the banshee was enjoyable until spam fest
considering that the majority of gametypes will now allow every player to pick their own starting weapon, I doubt BTB will start with ARS.
Players can now choose from about 7-10 weapons t start off with, and the only gametypes that won’t feature this ability as of now are classic gametypes and perhaps a variant of gametypes where loadouts are set(not classic, but all loadouts have same weapons, different AAs, reach style).

The problem with the DMR was that it had far too much range. The pistol is a great substitute. It doesn’t have too much range, while at the same time doing the same amount of damage. It would be advantageous to get a DMR, but you aren’t required to because not everyone has a DMR.
No Thank’s
AR starts on Big maps sound terrible.

Way to describe stereotypes dude.
I think fixing the vehicles that were so flawed in reach will go a long way in remedying this problem. But I do agree that some btb gametypes should have either ar or br starts. Definitely not DMR, those weapons should only be pick-up weapons.
Ever played AR starts on Valhalla in Halo 3? They were terrible.
No thanks. I’ll keep the DMR. I would like to fight back and not be.stuck at my base because some jerk took almost all the ammo with them and died in the middle.
Yeah, lets slow down the game again so the original Big Team Battle gametypes Bungie had in Reach means 75 points to win is a requirement or else the timer will run out first!
AR starts would be bad on big maps,What are you going to hit lol.I suppose you could use the pistol but I would rather start/find a proper weapon.
BTB would be broken without precision weapons. Though the DMR admittedly was bad because it was hitscan, fired straight, and had a 3x scope.
The BR should be BTB’s main weapon IMO. But with custom loadouts, I don’t see it being picked much over the DMR.

Of course Ne0 Kaiser would thank this post

MLG and BTB have no correlation. I don’t see the point in this post.

What?
BTB has nothing to do with MLG
sighs

Wouldnt you want both teams to charge to the middle and then start pulling out Shotties and Swords “FOR GLORY!!!”
