Since the release of h5 making all playlist ranked was great for all returning fans of halo multiplayer. The first season was not only exciting to me an my friends it gave us hope for the entire franchise that 343 is listening to the community and its feedback. I’m not against social but with WARZONE In place there’s not a need for social playlist In arena. Many of my friends that play halo competitively daily have more than 4 friend online at one time who want to compete in a playlist with like skilled individuals an track our progress whether winning or in defeat. Having no ranked playlist that have more than 4v4 makes us either kick a friend from a party or segregates our teammates if big team won’t be ranked please create a playlist that allows for more than 4v4. Halo 2 had ranked big team as well as halo 3 with also squad battle which was a 6v6 competitive playlist any of these would appease many h5 players with more than 4 friends in a party whom want to play competitively with rank on the line
100% agreed. Big team ranked was awesome and now its gone. Stop making us break up our parties to play ranked! Warzone unranked is enough.

Having to break up the party when there’s more than 4 people in order to play ranked is extremely frustrating. Removing the rank on BTB was definitely a step backwards IMO. Having large maps dedicated to an unranked playlist seems like a waste. Please return the rank fro BTB so we can have something to play for when we have a larger party.
As a player, one of my strongest roles is vehichle control. A ranked BTB would allow me to use my skills in a ranked senario. Halo has always been about controlling vehicles and making the most of them. The current ranked playlists offer no vehicles and seems to only cater to one audience 4v4 CQ style. I like the currentl line up and agree that makinig BTB ranked would be a huge improvement. To appease social players i would suggest the return of social slayer 4v4 or 5v5 to keep a casual list availabe for social players. Social players are less likely to care about map rotation and as a player who enjoys ranked, not having any larger maps in rotation is lack luster. Please consider retruning BTB to a ranked status and adding a social list in the mix.

Everyone playing BTB are still getting matched with people smilier to their skill set. There was a article about social having secret ranks so the noobs won’t get demolished or something like that.

Yes it has hidden ranks but you have nothing to show for it it really doesn’t matter if you win or lose. I preferred having an actual rank that way I felt like it meant something if we won or lose a game.

Big team battle ranked has been an essential playlist since 2004 upon the release of halo 2 the entire gaming community I met an still currently play with is due to the fact h2 had ranked BTB because it increased the odds of 8 people on a single team communicating to win for a common goal to increase thier rank whereas in other playlist in u have half the chance if anyone communicating unless ur in thier party. BTB ranked is essential check out websites like BTB.net where it’s a community of BTB enthusiast ranked BTB has been around since h2 why take it away now.
I agree with your post but it does make me giggle when we had people complaining that it was too competetive ( I know, incredible right?) when it was ranked. 343 can’t win with this one unless they make ranked and social btb playlists but I’m not sure if that’s sustainable.
Agreed, most people don’t play this anymore because it isn’t ranked.

Lol too competitive the original halo 2 fans had clan matches, BTB ranked an leaderboards, those were the competitive days look how far we’ve regressed in 12 years

I understand the need for social if there was split screen guests but as C0ld said look how competitive it used to be and I feel those people players are who have continually supported Halo not the casual player. But hey you’re the only to post that doesn’t agree with everyone else who has posted. But we are only a few.

The initial complaint was that there were no social arena playlists at all, not that BTB was ranked. There definitely needed to be a social playlist, but removing rank on the only arena playlist that allows more than 4 players on a team was a bad call. If they don’t want to separate the community too much, then they should get rid of whack -Yoink- playlists like breakout and swat - slayer and arena is all that’s needed for ranked 4v4, but that’s another argument entirely.
Warzone is definitely a social playlist. Anytime game type where you can spawn a tank between deaths cannot be feasibly considered competitive. And you could get matched against a team of try hards in any social playlist - doesn’t make the playlist any less unranked/social.
To really think about this issue, we need to take a step back and think about WHY people play social. Seems to me it’s for three main reasons:
- To learn the game - To play the game at a more relaxed level - Because the player has no friends online to team up with and doesn’t want to play ranked without teammatesI think that for these reasons, social is a great idea - but we can’t forget that ranked is the true essence of what makes Halo great.
I think it’s important that we make it little bit annoying to play unranked as this will motivate people to build up their network of halo players to team up with, which will make them become more ingrained in the culture, which will make them like the game more, which will make them play more, which will make them recruit their non-Halo friends to join in, which will help give Halo and Xbox the success they deserve. Real big picture talk. This is the chain reaction that helps Halo become king again.
It’s also important that we don’t have too many playlists. This is the first Halo that doesn’t suffer from the “too many playlists” problem. I mean, the sheer fact that the exact same gametypes are being played in regular ranked and in tournaments is nothing short of amazing. However, as this game starts to age it will become harder and harder to find matches and too many playlists exacerbates this problem. For the above reasons, I feel like there should only be two social playlists:

One 4v4 playlist that encompasses all gametypes from Team Slayer, Team Arena, and Breakout - Warzone OR Big Team Battle - not both. Big Team is much more ideal as a ranked playlist to me but ranked something >4 is better than ranked nothing >4)That’s it. If someone has a problem with those two social playlists, they are:

I agree. BTB should be ranked again because SOCIAL with HIDDEN TRUE SKILL is bologna! I spend more time looking for matches in SOCIAL BTB then I do RANKED Arena matches…

I saw another thread posted by LOSE in which he says that if they, aka 343, wants to keep BTB as Social, then they should give the community a ranked 6v6 (a la Squad Battle). I think this is also a great solution but will need for 343 to do a ton of play testing 6v6 matches to see if it plays ok on BTB maps designed for 8 players.

I agree, its the fanatics like me that play everyday. This keeps the franchise alive because the 2,000 followers I have on Xbox see that I play Halo 5 all the time. Also, what about the 200 Champions from BTB Pre-Season… How do you think they feel after they worked so hard to get and keep their Champion status in BTB and then 343 just yanks it away! I got placed into GOLD division and worked my self up to TOP 20 in the world for BTB including most WHEELMANS! HOW DO U THINK I FEEL??? I just sold my Xbox and won’t buy it again until they release ranked BTB or Squad Battle!
FURTHERMORE, I cannot find it feasible to whom made the decision to keep hidden ranks! So many quitters now in BTB! You can stat up your Arena WIN% and if you start losing just quit and the loss wont appear on your service record… Thanks a lot…
Here are the possible solutions to this problem:
- Give us back ranked BTB
- Keep BTB Social and give us ranked Squad Battle
- RIOT and flood the forums!
