Okay so I haven’t really seen a topic like this one. I have seen people discuss this in threads though, but I decided I would go ahead and create it into a poll.
Now i am not trying to start any flame wars, just curious as to what the majority of people think.
I want to know who would like to rather have all of the AA’s and all of these perks convert into a map pickup system like halo 2/3. I think about half of the perks and stuff need to be eliminated, but that’s just my opinion. Anyways what do you think?
I’d prefer them to be removed entirely, but I guess them as pickups would be better than the current messed up situation.

I agree with you. I would like them removed as well, but i really don’t think that’s going to happen. So this is a compromise you can say?

I don’t like the current implementations of them but I think we already have more than enough additional advantages on the map in the forms of weapons, vehicles and power ups (crinch).
So AAs and Perks as map pick ups adds fundamentally nothing new or significant to the table nor will it solve the current issues with them but will only allay them.
In regards to AAs I would when like to see a new approach towards the concept.
You could either incorporate them as inherent parts into the design of certain gametypes or maps.
I.e: a map that incorporates an ability like Thruster Pack as an default movement mechanic into its design and gameplay.
Or you design them in a way so their functions overlap.
I.e: you focus on movement AAs that achieve the same goal only on slightly different ways, each with its pros and cons like TP and Evade
Or you make their functions dependend on each other, what would be more of a class system then.
But no matter what approach I would prefer it if AAs would not be simply “press button, get desired effect” mechanics. The effectiveness of an AA should be dependend on the player’s personal input (skill, thought, creativity, experience, etc)
In regards to Perks, well, in PvP I only see them work, get balanced and get some depth as set attributes for set and specific classes.
Otherwise they are only invisible, instant and constant advantages on which the player (user and opponent) has no impact on and that is nothing what I would personally like to see in a PvP game.
Remove certain AAs, and restore certain ones to their original forms.
Regen should be equipment
Camo no dots should be power up
Delete pv and jet pack entirely
Auto turret should be equipment
Hard light shield is just a mobile deployable cover in halo 3, so I think “hard light” should return, but make it one usage like all other equipment…
Thruster pack, is my favorite, and would hate to see it as one usage equipment, so I’m gonna make suggestion to have it a Power up
I voted “no,” not because I want AAs to remain as spawn items, but because I want them removed altogether.

Perks should go forever in Halo. They should never, ever return in any way, shape or form.
Armour Abilities, I’m rather neutral about. If they were to go, I wouldn’t be disappointed or affected in any negative way. If they are to stay, however, then yes, they most definitely should become map pickups, preferably as limited-use equipment.
No perks, ever again. Too much feature, next to no benefit.
AA’s could be map pickups, though I dispute some of the argument of pickups over AA’s. In my many years of Halo, I’m just as likely to stumble upon a pack pickup as I am to have to fight someone over it.
I would very much like to take this for a spin - one use AA per spawn, and expand it to include a lot of the H3 equipment. So, one trip mine, EMP, hologram, jet pack boost, thruster pack boost, or grav lift deployment per life. It could work, especially if they are better tuned than Halo 4’s offerings.
Where the option for make AA map pickups and remove PERKS?
AA should definitely become MAP pickup like H3 Equipment. This returns Halo to an Arena Shooter.
PERKS however should be removed from Halo and never ever ever return.
I don’t want AAs to be loadouts, period.
If they were to be on-map pickups, I’d change them from the current system (unlimited infrequent use with a cooldown period) to one of the following:

Equipment: pick it up and hold on to it until you use it once. (example, bubble shield in Halo 3)

Powerup: pick it up and immediately begin using it for a certain time period. (example, invisibility in Halo 1-3)

For jet pack and thruster pack/evade, they could be powerups, picked up on-map for unlimited use for a time period (30 sec-1 min)
Honestly I’d opt for the return of equipment if it were up to me. The were one use only and map pickups so they were almost perfectly balanced as a concept.
I’d be fine with just having map pick ups be over shield, invisibility, and bubble shield. Maybe a few more I can’t think of off the top of my head. For ranked playlists.
I wouldn’t mind having a more liberal selection of map pick ups in social playlists.
Get rid of all perks and never speak of it again. Return the ability to pick up ammo without some silly customization.
