a common issue i find is that there are no more casual playlist. yes theres big team battle and warzone but thats not really to much better anymore. i suggest we make a social version of every playlist and take off things like team damage and make a clear competitive difference between social and competitive playlist. any one elses thoughts
Yeah I agree. Maybe not every playlist, but we really need social playlists, and it would be incredibly easy for 343 to add Social Slayer, I really don’t know why they haven’t already.
I’ll say they need at least a slayer. I wonder if they’re getting data back that people just don’t play those social list though? Lots of talk on the forum about wanting it but when it comes down to playing it over the weekend maybe people just don’t spend the time in the list.
Also, I think they had a lesson learned with MCC. If you give people too many options then you hurt search times, so you need to funnel players into as few lists as possible.

Less playlists=more players in existing playlists
Say Halo 5 has 50k players and each playlist is as popular as the next which isn’t the case there are popular and unpopular playlists and I’m confident Halo 5 has less than 50k players
That would be 6,250 players per playlist
Okay so lets add Februarys 3 extra playlists that’s 4,500 per playlist
Now lets add fan favorites infection, KOTH Social Slayer and Social Objective
That would be 3,125 players per playlist… IF every playlist was equally popular…this would kill off smaller playlists like Breakout Swat Warzone Assault etc…
Every time you add a playlist you are thinning out the population this will lead to more connection complaints and an overall worse experience

having a small amount of players isnt a huge issue, games like halo reach only have 1k players per playlist but still dont have an issue finding matches
Full team tryhards will just ruin the social playlists anyway.
Can we go back to ranked BTB while we’re at it too? There’s nothing “social” about it now that it’s unranked. I keep getting curb stomped in that playlist now that it’s “social”…
This is a great idea, but I don’t think they have a real reason to since the game doesn’t allow more than one person to play on the same xbox…so there are no guests…which was a main reason to have to play social
This would involve 343i actually doing something other than creating reqs
besides why would you want social playlists when you can have pizza AR skins?

1000 people per playlist is horrible considering those 1000 are all over the world it leads to bad connections…
But Halo Reach doesn’t have 1000 players per playlist in fact it suffers now from exactly what I was talking about
At the time of writing this Halo Reach has 4339 players online total
Spread out across 19 playlists that’s 230 players per playlist on average…as I said before IF every playlist was equal in popularity
This is Reachs playlist count
Team Slayer - 561
Swat- 235
Snipers- 115
Living Dead 434
Invasion- 32 That’s 2 matches in the world with a few people seatching waiting for the room to fill
Super Slayer- 3 dead playlist
Team Objective- 1
dead playlist
Rumble Pit - 43
Doubles-20
Big Team- 295
Multi Team 85
Arena- 2 dead playlist
Anniversary classic and firefight- 84
MLG- 2 dead playlist
Griffball- 189
Halo Reach is in a completely unplayable state right now…
If they removed all but 4 playlists it would still average only a little over 1k players per playlist so it would be kind of playable…
Its spread extremely thin
remove team chat in social make it so you can hear the other team, and take off radar so you have to socialize with the other team to find out where they Are.

Are you (and others that agree with you) afraid of ranked? It’s nothing more than pixels on a screen. Let’s be honest the H5 ranking system is skewed anyways. Honestly what’s the difference, aside from team damage that makes a social playlist different from a comp playlist?
Regardless of the playlist being social or comp, you will attempt to win the game correct? Or is social a playlist where you emphasize losing? (not a troll post I’m honestly curious about why some people feel the need that H5 needs social)
Making a social playlist of every game mode is a terrible idea, only modes like Griffball, Fiesta, Infection and Action sack deserve to be social.
Modes like Slayer are designed to be competitive and social adds non competitive elements like no skilled matching which makes the game incredibly one sided towards a certain team.
I said this in another thread and I’ll say it again here. Why not just add ranked BTB and a no parties social slayer or team arena. That would seem to solve all problems and not dilute the playlists that bad. Want to avoid coordinated pub stompings and just play to your ability go to the no parties list. Want to play with your friends casually go to social BTB and have less of a chance of a coordinated pub stomp.

More playlists = more players will have reason to come online and remain online for longer thanks to greater choice of playlists, particularly relevant for those who aren’t very interested in the small choice of playlists we have at the moment.

It worked pretty well for halo 3

We just got it as a weekend playlist as gameday slayer. So it really can’t be that hard to make it permanent.
Terrible idea, dilutes the matchmaking pools and creates sub-optimal matches. Having identical ranked and social playlists is a bad idea.
I don’t think every playlists need a social version as well as a ranked version mthaybseems like over kill. They just need to add some Social play lists. Besides BTB, “Coming Soon” is long over due.
As far as Warzone goes. It only has two game modes across 4 maps. Gets old after a while for some. Some people want to play other modes. Like Action Sack related modes.

Understandable (game modes getting stale). Can you tell me what the difference between ranked and social is? Aside from obvious things like the rank and team damage.
