make a real boss battle and no q.t.e

now we all know that halo 4’s so called boss fight was something like this and i’m not trying to compare halo to cod but i am comparing the quick time events of the last mission.im expecting 343 make a real boss battle like master chief vs the Didact and Arbiter Thel 'vadam vs Jul’mdama on halo 5.

I’m up for QTEs mixed with the traditional fighting for boss battles.

I agree that Halo 4’s boss fight (if that’s what you can call it) was too reminiscent of a Call of Duty sequence.

I don’t want to see a boss battle like the Didacts ever again. Pretty sad really. Look at Arbitors fight with Tartarus, now that was a boss battle!

I will say this, if you are going to include QTE’s go with the grand scale God of War type ones.

I loved the boss battles in Halo 2. I still remember the first time i played through the game and when master chief was punching the prophet it looked so -Yoink- but so bad -Yoink- at the same time haha and then of course Arbiters boss battle at the end was just epic.

Hardly, Tartarus was just stand around until Johnson took his shield down

Still more fun then pressing buttons in the correct order and then blowing up.

Pretty much, and you had freedom within the map to just mess around. The amount of times I would make that over-sized gorilla chase me…ah. Good times.

They are both equally as bad, boss fights don’t belong in FPS’s

Rage made it work. And so can Halo.

True.

Or…

Or, if you really wanted a challenge and really wanted a serious boost in honor - you could jump down to Tartarus’s platform and face him like a true Arbiter.

That’s what I did, and it was pretty damn fun.

Should have seen my first time fighting the dude, screaming and running away from the guy until my bro killed him. Back when I was a little kid, and an apparent only use for distracting the AI.
My second try, I went YOLO on him, and succeeded.

I think bosses should have- very powerful attacks, minions, source of unlimited something, high health, and give you a sense of achievement when fighting him. I want friggen have it so hard to do that it could make a guy rage quit.

It wasn’t even a proper sequence, if I remember correctly the were like 3 parts to it, and 1 or 2 were just tapping a button once.

Sure they do, they just have to be done right, and some FPS games managed to pull off pretty good ones too, although they’re not at level of say FF, MGS or LoZ, some are still pretty good.

That’s just a brick. A boss shouldn’t have much of a health/damage advantage over you, they should have a wide array of attacks, and special abilities, I made some boss ideas on a thread similar to this a while ago, I’ll go track them down and post them up.

Agreed! A boss should be hard to defeat due to being very smart, requiring strategy to beat him. You should feel a sense of achievement when you beat a boss due to having played well, not because you stood there and were able to just shoot at him without dying.

In any case, pretty much any sort of boss fight is better than what we had with the Didact.

The final scene with the UrDidact wasn’t a “boss battle”. So why keep calling it that? 343 never called it that. The official Prima guide never called it that. So why insist on labeling it a “boss fight” when it wasn’t?
It was an interactive cutscene with the game’s main antagonist.

It was completely unnecessary and it was a joke of a final battle tarturus at least had some back up after awhile I remember those random brutes appearing.maybe u could have a qte that leads to a boss fight

There was no other way to do the Didact battle.

Fight him in the open, this gigantic bridge, and he just uses his constraint field to slap you off the bridge. Game over.
Add cover, he disintegrates the cover and slaps you off the bridge.
Rush him, he slaps you, floats away, or even grabs you and plays with you before tossing you aside.

You would empty all the guns you have and a couple more at least to damage him. His armor was so powerful it disabled the Ionization Sphere of a pulse grenade. He took two binary shots and only was knocked out, and that was even without armor.

A boss fight was not the way to go. Even with Cortana.
