Major things 343 needs to change

  1. 343 needs to fix instant spawning, although a good idea in theory it doesnt actually work in a halo game. Instant spawning takes away team strategy you now have almost no idea where the enemy will spawn and you can also spawn right next to a player after they kill you or vice versa. Example: you get into a dmr battle kill the guy to only have them spawn next to you while you still have low shields and kill you. the instant spawning speeds up the game so much its almost unplayable you either end up playing a game where everyones camping or everyones running around like there blind because they have no idea where the enemies are.

  2. why 343 why would you ever even think about taking out the death X. It makes team callouts very hard to nearly impossible to do i always find myself calling out to my friends sniper on my X or one-shot on my X to only go “o ya, theres no death indicator”

  3. Weapon despawning: weapons despawn so fast it dumb most of the time after you die you cant even get to where you died to pick up the power weapon you had before its gone.

  4. Please add a classic slayer game mode or something more true to halo. in my oppinion the ordnance weapon spawns instead of set weapon spawns are way to unbalanced theres no point of map control and timing weapon spawns are almost completely pointless in halo 4. There unbalanced because say i get grenades concussion rifle and needler in my ordnance that is not balance at all when someone on the other team gets to choose fromm a sniper binary rifle or damage boost. Unpredictable is not the name of halo games.

  5. this game is much less skill based then any other halo game i have ever played and i own and have played them all.

It’s fun and exciting and all. “Totally action packed” and all that jazz… But seriously. Why. This feels like a game I am to just pick up and more on. Halo 3, awesome… Play it a few years and still learn new things. Halo Reach… Crap, had to force myself to love it, but still playable over years because I still feel I have more to learn. Halo 4… What the hell am I supposed to learn? Got a 2.0 so far. Should be getting matched with tough enemies soon but really… I’m bored. Waiting for my k/d to fall to where I had it in Reach, 1.5

I completely agree.
Instant spawning should be removed.

My thoughts on your points…

  1. I have never experienced an enemy spawning next to me immediately after they kill me. I feel like the spawn system tries to spawn you closer to your teammates if possible, but back at your “base”/ mostly out of harm’s way. I don’t really run into an insane amount of campers, and if you pay enough attention, you can deduce where the enemy will spawn. I’ve noticed that on Ragnarok, if one team pushes far enough onto the opposite side, the enemy starts to spawn on the other side of the map, away from their original base. This keeps spawn campers away and allows them to get some breathing room. Just think about where you would spawn if you were on the opposite team, be sneaky and check your corners. Red X’s would help though…

  2. I agree with this one fully. I mostly play SWAT, so knowing where the enemy killed a teammate is vital. I hardly ever play with friends so even knowing who’s who in the kill log is hard enough…what with the all caps names and varying language of who killed who. Here I would suggest making the team member’s names the color of the team they are on…RICARD JULIANTI WAS KILLED BY STEGALL44…for instance. Removing the all caps would help too.

  3. While I agree with this, I believe they did it for a reason. With the updated graphics running on the now 7 year old hardware in the 360, I think having lots of weapons on the maps for an extended period of time creates serious framerate issues. If they are able to optimize it better so it doesn’t cause problems, cool. If not, I’ll deal with it since gameplay is faster anyway.

  4. I would be okay with this, just as long as it didn’t replace Infinity Slayer. I do have to disagree with the fact that it removes strategy, it just changes it. I have had matches, with complete randoms mind you, where we strategize and control points of the map (Right stairs from Blue spawn on Haven for instance) even without mics. You could roll in the regular set spawns of the past in this playlist, but you would have to watch out for spawn campers.

Personally, I feel like the ordinance drops aren’t as unbalanced as you think. I can’t seem to remember a time when everyone on my team got a bad roll, and everyone on the other team got insane power weapons.

You may not get the best roll, but someone on your team has something worthwhile. Sure there are games where you get crushed, but that’s Halo.

  1. Sadly, this is the least well thought out of your arguments. The team with the higher skill will still win. It may not be the same set of skills as in the past, but this isn’t the same Halo. I may not have the greatest K/D (because I mostly play SWAT probably), but I am definitely having fun which is all that matters. Try changing a touch while mixing in old strategies. Combat has evolved (lol) so should your playstyle. Keep some of the old, but add some new and you might find it works pretty well.

Definitely open to discussion, just as long as it doesn’t turn into a bunch of ignorant fools who believe their opinion is fact and 100% irrefutable. Nothing wrong with some intelligent conversation about what may or may not change, and what may or may not need to be changed, right?

P.S. I too have owned and played every Halo game, online when applicable. But honestly, that doesn’t make anyone’s opinion more valid than someone else’s. If Halo had remained the exact same since 2, we wouldn’t have as many new people wanting to see what all the fuss is about. Everyone deserves to have their say and to play the game.

They also need to change the dumb freaking thing where it puts you into middle a start slayer match!!! If I join in its not too bad but when your stupid system puts one of us verses the other three and splits up your team of four that we literally won over 25 games in a row and make one person loose against his team. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WILL NOT BE PLAYING THIS GAME FLR AWHILE!!! Fix it or let bungee take over piece of crap 343

You should probably calm down a little…

It’s not like win streaks matter…or are even visible to anyone anyway. There aren’t any challenges that require you to win x amount of games in a row or anything like that. I suggest checking out the “How matchmaking works” stickie to see why your team was split up. It’s not like the game saw a match that needed 4 players first and just threw you in. It looked for the match that met the most criteria to make it even as possible, but that was the best it could do. The post match search is a bit wonky, I’ll give you that (4v1 SWAT?..come on, couldn’t search and find someone else or even split it 3v2?) But usually JIP fixes situations like that, which is good for objective types. I’ve found that 4v3 CTF or Oddball is next to impossible to win, JIP fixes that.

THIS is what happens when JIP doesn’t work properly. I joined this match near the beginning (it was around 150/80 when I joined) and no one joined the rest of the match. Others left, and it was the single dumbest match of Halo I have ever played.

I’m fine with keeping JIP in, but it does need some tweaks.

The instant spawning totally takes out a piece of halo beep beep beep beep boop sound got me pumped to get back at em’… and find out he’s in the same area still makes it boring

And WTF is up with the weapons despawning? I totally get the hate for that, grabbed an ordinance for my SAW once and it disappeared while i fought over it, then got another one and died spawned back its gone Very annoying :’(

Yeah, that kind of thing happens to me too, and it definitely saddening.

See #3 in my original post for my thoughts on why it is the way it is…

I thought about it while i was typing, too many weapons in a game and lag due to ordinances, but seriously why let a weapon even drop off a dead body if it disappears instantly? ONLY someone VERY close by would be able to pick it up in time.

reminds me of a sword spree in reach, best game I ever had trying to get my sword back after death kill 3-5 more then fight back for it

1: I only thought it’d be in Regicide from the start, and then I thought there would be an option to turn it off. Luckily they turned it off in CTF. Anyhow, it should be take out from every playlist. They can keep it in as an option but it should be taken out.

2: I never understood it myself either.

3: Personal ordnance drops and map drops, if you have a long despawn time everyone will run around with power weapons since they’ll be all over the ground/floor at mid game. Not that everyone doesn’t run around with the allready since they are so easily acquired, there would be more with long despawn though.

4: I’d suggest rebalancing Infinity Slayer like this. Random in, but keeping it balanced. They would have to make a separate playlist for it though seeing as a lot of people oppose balancing IS out.

5: Just need to polish it, then there’s skill.
