Major Matchmaking Issues - Post Server Updates

Just another rehash of the major matchmaking issues as it stands post-hotfixes:

  • Search times are huge and massively inconsistent regardless of playlist or game party size - Acknowledged by 343 - 343 are set to release another server update to improve search times once XBL services return to normal (Link to this - http://tinyurl.com/mzdzwxj)- Incorrect game lobby sizes - The rules dictating lobby size is not set correctly or is not being adhered to - Confirmed- Incorrect team sizes (2v5, 3v4 etc) - The rules dictating team configuration size is not set correctly or is not being adhered to - Confirmed- Incorrect gametypes. When the lobby appears to exceed the maximum defined number of lobby players it regularly loads a random gametype on a random map (possibly a custom game where MM lobby members are somehow pulled into it) - Confirmed- Parties split between teams - The rules that dictate team configuration when handling parties is not set correctly or is not being adhered to. - Confirmed- Game regularly freezes post-game. It will either stay frozen (requiring a quit and reload) or crash back to the xb1 home. - Confirmed- Backing out of a search lobby separates the game lobby party. The only way to rejoin members of the game lobby party is to reload the game (using home -> quit -> reopen mcc) - Confirmed- Once a game lobby is broken visually in mcc - the join game connection to one of those game lobby members cannot be remade without reloading the game (using home -> quit -> reopen mcc). MCC believes the connection to that player has already been made in most cases. It does not show this visually. I don’t know how the connection is made technically so i can’t validate whether the connection has been successfully made on the network level. Also can’t validate that the connection was severed correctly in the first place. - Confirmed- Playlists using incorrect lobby #'s. 5v5 instead of 4v4’s and 6v6 instead of 8v8 for btb - Confirmed- When a player is granted host in a p2p game the player is able to boot other players using the in game select menu - Confirmed- Guest accounts are permitted to search in Ranked playlists - TBC- Irregular/Inconsistent pre-game/game setup lobby dropouts - TBC- Irregular/Inconsistent separation of lobby players into individual games - TBCIf i’ve listed something as TBC and you have experienced this issue post update please post in this thread and i will list it as confirmed.

If 343 actively acknowledges an issue i will change it to ‘Acknowledged by 343’ with a link to any 343 comms related to it.

There is a quite impressive list of minor issues but i don’t think anyone cares about those right now. We all just want to play halo!

Please don’t use this thread to further bash 343. I’m simply attempting to provide them with feedback on what i’ve experienced post-updates.

Ugh that’s a bummer I was hoping to play tonight.

Which playlists are using p2p? I thought they were all supposed to be on dedicated servers?

custom game are on p2p

Yea I know customs are but there are a few people saying that some of the multiplayer playlists are p2p too because they have seen host migrations.

I also have occasional issues that as a game sets up the map won’t load and after a couple of minutes I get kicked to the start screen. If other people have that issue you may want to add it.

I <3 u 343 but im srsly.

Actually not 100% sure there are p2p playlists. Just a feeling + visually seeing host migration messages in game and in lobby. I haven’t been able to confirm this one post-update as i haven’t been able to find many games since the update (probably due to the current xbl issues).

Perfect description of what me and my friends have experienced thus far, thanks!

You’re Welcome. Once the next server update goes live i’ll go through this list again and see if it has fixed any of these major MM issues.

I was able to boot people from matchmaking game twice today

Updated the original post. Thanks. What playlist and game where you in?

Yeah i experienced the “host migration” thing today when i got a match in team slayer. Slayer on colussus h2c. Match was extremely laggy too. Overall though the matches I have been able to find in team slayer and team h2a have not suffered from extreme lag. Also everytime i have searched for games online partied up with a friend we have always been put into seperate teams.
