Major H5 Population Drop?

I have a core group of 3 other Halo friends that we routinely play Halo together since H2. Out of those 3, I am the only one who has played the Beta into the second week. 2 of them would rather play MCC or (gross) Destiny. And the other just flat out won’t even try the Beta cause the gameplay he see’s isn’t a Halo game he wants to purchase/play.

I know this sample size is incredibly small, but out of 4 people 3 have already abandoned Halo 5’s Multiplayer. I still play it, but I don’t enjoy it. Just kind of playing it cause it’s there now, but I have no interest in purchasing Halo 5. I’ll RedBox it for the campaign and happily go back to MCC. (Fingers crossed that Doubles and proper Ranked playlist will be fixed by then.)

I remember playing the Halo 3 Beta with these guys, all who purchased Crackdown for the main purpose of playing the H3 Beta. And we played that beta up till the servers were pulled. Now, the Halo 5 Beta is free and they have no interest at all… Is that kind of Halo excitement that we experienced for Halo 3 still around for anyone with H5?

Is anyone else experiencing this, where they have seen their friends drop off the Beta and stop playing it altogether? Based on my own experience there is a 75% player drop off in week 2 for Halo 5. This is Halo 4 matchmaking all over again and maybe even worse…

Blame BR slayer. Halo felt fresh for the first time since Halo 3, and then they catered to the “competitive” fanbase at the expense of everybody else, effectively pushing all of the newcomers out of the game.

This. I stopped playing once they introduced the BR starts. It ruins the game.

Well ya. This game is a mess. I dont blame people for jumping ship.

Im not playing the beta as much because its only 2 maps and team slayer. Kinda limited.

I don’t even play the beta at all anymore. It doesn’t seem like a fun halo game that can last (because it won’t last I can guarantee that)

Yesssss it is. Just without BR start.

The game is boring and frustrating. I’ll stick to playing Halo 1-3 on MCC

noooo it isn’t. The game will have a slightly better fate than halo 4. Much of the population will be gone within a year because this game is a generic shooter with an updated halo 4 playstyle.

Pretty much.

It’s because of BR starts, you know.

And I’ll still be playing it. What’s your point?

are you guys serious? Halo 3 was full of BR starts! BR starts are great.

I love the halo 5 beta and know i want it when it comes out so i havnt been playing it as hardcore as i did the first week, but BR starts are a GREAT addition. It is the same thing as if everybody started with pistol and AR, It is starting everybody off equally. just get better… its not that hard.

3 people don’t play anymore = major drop in halo 5 population. People are being drama queens.

I’m better than you. BR starts still suck.

I think Halo5 is overall incredibly refreshing, and with some tweaking, will be a long lasting hit. That said, BR starts has brought a certain monotony to the proceedings, and only having 2 maps to play on doesn’t help matters.

With a ton of interesting MP content and modes yet to be seen, i’m fully confident that H5 will be around for a while. Much longer than H4 to be sure…

BR starts was designed for Halo 3. This game’s balancing, abilities, and map design are specifically designed around forcing people to move quickly around the maps and control and balance certain weapons amongst your team (run and gun, so to speak). BR starts promotes camping and spawn killing in this game, and it’s garbage. The population dropped off significantly when BR starts were introduced. It ruins the flow of this game.

BR starts has nothing to do with it.

What we’re noticing is the honeymoon phase wearing off. Not only are people getting sick of the game and leaving, but the ones that remain are learning how to play the game in an more effective manner. Unfortunate for us all, the most effective way to play this game(no matter what weapon you spawn with) just doesn’t produce very fun games.

Dude, calm it. Different people have different issues and likes about the game. You don’t need to shove your dislike down everyone’s throat.

Halo 4 had all sorts of spawns and Halo 5 will most likely get both BR and AR spawns. The more liked game will be the most played, so if Halo 5 dies it wont be because of BR spawns.
