Should be 5v5. It’s to darn constraining trying to squeeze my crew down to a little 4v4 like it’s 1999. 4v4 = 90’s

There should be a larger integration of objective game types into the majestic map pack. KOTH, Oddball, CTF, Extraction, and so on.

All I ever get is Infinity Slayer, it’s for that reason that I’m not playing the new maps in matchmaking.

The Crimson playlist was well balanced, this one is unplayable for people like me that hate Infinity and want to play something else.

I wish the gametypes/map combinations were different. I’ve only ever played Landfall with Extraction, and I really hate Extraction.

Also, is it just me or is the connections in this playlist horrendous? Every other playlist I go to, it seems fine. But this constantly playlist is constantly giving me black screens and starting games with less than 4 players. It’s kind of ridiculous.

Edit: Get. Rid. Of. Personal. Ordinance. My god, the amount of Power Weapons that are coming into these small maps is ridiculous! There should be one Shotgun/Scattershot and MAYBE a Rockets on something like Skyline.

Love the new maps, but I don’t really want swat in this playlist.

The current week’s challenges (150 auto kills) and majestic achievements are making games on these new maps much less enjoyable than they could be.

Overall, the maps are good, however they sometimes feel a bit small for 4v4. I think 3v3 or 2v2 would play better in some cases. Note: I love CTF on Skyline! That is currently the highlight of this playlist for me.

Edit: With Personal Ordnance there are way too many power weapons on these tiny maps.

I like the new maps but swat would not be good idea for this map pack. But this is a great map pack and i feel 343 is giving what the halo fans what they want

These maps are great! I am very impressed with 343i–these maps are very thoughtfully constructed and they do possess that Combat-Evolved-multiplayer feel with which the original Halo made its name. The background vistas are probably the most impressive and most epic that I have seen in any Halo DLC besides, in my opinion, Breakneck and Highlands (in that the view opens up to reveal a grand scene) from Halo: Reach. They are so very crucial to the story of Halo and to setting the scene for these epic battles, and these are so detailed, and I love the Hornet/Falcon that we see in Highlands. It is so good that it is almost distracting and I think, “Wait, there are vehicles on this map?” In this area, I could not stress how well done these maps are. I think they could verge on classic, but that’s my opinion again.

My criticism comes mainly with Capture the Flag on Skyline. I have played this several times today and I am honestly consistently pissed off with it! It annoys me so much that the spawn times are ten freaking seconds with no way to speed it up, and the speeding up I just find silly, since most will speed up the spawn time anyway, so why not just shorten it to like 4-5 seconds? But I digress… Every time I am defending my flag and become swarmed by the enemy team, (and die immediately because that’s how skilled I am), I respawn ten seconds later to find that the other team has already taken our flag literally halfway across the map.

How am I supposed to combat that? I just fail to see how you can call that balanced gameplay. Granted, that can work for me in the opposite direction too, but it doesn’t seem at all fair that that even happens! A ten-second spawn timer on such a small map confounds and appalls me to no end. I would very much appreciate a shorter spawn time on this gametype/playlist combination, if you could.

I know not how your server and playlist setups work, but I, too, would like to see more variety of gametypes on these maps. I have only played Extraction on Landfall, and that is a map that I would also like to play other gametypes on. But despite all that criticism, I would like to express my true gratitude, though it matters not, to the 343 map designers; you people did some phenomenal work with your maps. A lot of things went right this time around! Kudos!

These maps are amazing! So much fun!

Everything I love about Halo is here.

The grav lifts on monolith are insane and can easily be abused, especially with rockets. I played KOTH and had rockets twice. Using the lifts back and forth, I dominated the other team with rockets from the sky to no end. At least they can be forged out, so I think they should be.

Edit: The side lifts, not the base lifts, they are fine.

I love these new maps. They really do have a classic feel to them. The only problem I have is that I would love to have classic game play to go with it. By classic game play I mean this.

Take Team Throwdown’s settings, add JiP, and a fully functional radar. I like Infinity slayer but the randomness is what is killing this game overall.

When the servers went down the other day and everyone started with the exact same load outs it was fantastic. Let me explain something, I love playing Halo 4. I will continue to play until I have Halo 5 in my hands. So I am not a hater by any means to what has been done. However, when we had even starts it felt so much better.

It is okay to admit a mistake, it is however not okay to continue making it over and over. I would love to see Halo 4 have 200,000 people online during its slow time.

Still, the map pack is fantastic IMO. I am hoping for more of the same in Castle pack.

I have just played through the maps, and I agree…too many heavy weapons.

For these small maps, Personal Ordinance should be mid to low tier weapons - Needler, Concussion Rifle, MAYBE the Saw on Landfall - along with grenades and power ups.

Power Weapons (Sword, Rockets, Beam Rifle, SAW on the other two) should have timed spawns in specific spots.

Poorly balanced power weapons for how small the maps are. Aside from Landfall, these maps feel really congested for 8 players. Combine that with there being a ridiculous amount of power weapons for the maps’ sizes that frequently respawn AND personal ordinance, and it starts getting pretty ridiculous. Please replace the shotguns with concussion rifles on Skyline and Landfall, they cause players to corner camp a lot, and even when they don’t, the maps are so small that default sprint+shotgun is frustrating. Rockets on Landfall respawn too frequently. I’m in favor of them being swapped out for a railgun, but a longer timer might work too. Monolith should have snipers instead of beam rifles; they’re WAY too easy to noscope with in this game. The rockets should be an incineration cannon to fit the Forerunner theme in my opinion.

I love Halo and the design of these new maps is excellent in terms of geometry, but honestly it feels as if they haven’t been play-tested in the least with regards to weapon spawns, ordnance frequency, etc. On Landfall particularly I have played several matches where it seems multiple players are in possession of far too many power weapons while using them to earn more ordnance. Test this please prior to people spending money on it, it’s glaringly clear that the community is yet again play testing the rough drafts of gametypes.

I love the new maps! I’ll first talk about what I think about the gametypes.

Infinity Slayer + Rumble (All Maps): Same criticism I gave in the IS Feedback thread. Instant respawn is the only thing that doesnt really work. I’ve abused it to take advantage of Skylines tight spawns on FFA and Team games. Infinity Rumble and Infinity Slayer (both in DLC and default playlists) should have WEAKER ORDNANCE for personal requisition. There should not be needler map ordnances and someone can call themselves in a sniper. Of course, the removal of random ordnances on map will help with that. I’ll get to that soon.

KoTH (Monolith): Rox my sox. Great gametype.

Flag (Skyline): Tippity toppers. Super great, wish I could play some on Monolith.

Extraction (Landfall): meh, the 2 site doesn’t do it for me. Its less competitive and leads to a lot of camping with power weapons on Landfall. 1 Site would be better.

SWAT (Skyline): Eh, its not as good as the current SWAT maps but it can definetely earn a spot in that playlist.

MAP TIME!

MONOLITH: My personal favorite, I like what you did with the Hopper variant. The Beam Rifles aren’t that OP as initials and the respawning Rockets are excellent! Lifts should be removed though, they just don’t flow right for me.

SKYLINE: Spawns are VERY tight. Not sure if this is an error or because of map size but Gametypes without instant respawn play a lot better. The map has way too many power weapons as well. What I would do to change the map is this:

Before each ramp leading up to top mid place two initial ordnances that respawn 2 minutes after pickup, 1 sticky det/shotgun, and 1 railgun. These are the ONLY power weapons you need. 2 Needlers, 2 Shotguns, and a Sticky Det is too much! Don’t get me started on the Fuel Rod and Rockets top mid! Remove the Random Ordnance, I know this is a common complaint but it will really help this map.

But honestly its a great map.

Landfall: This, Haven, Complex, and Abandon (and the BTB maps) are the only maps that work with Random Ordnance for me. This is a good thing! The initial ordnances (RESPAWNING ROCKETS :D) are great and the random ordnances fit because of its asymmetry. Well done 343! I love this map!

I play customs with a variant of Infinity Slayer and maps where the map ordnances respawn (Rockets, Snipes, Strong Overshields) and the PO’s are weaker weapons (SAW, Concussion Rifle, Needler, Sticky Det, Railgun, Scattershot) and are earned every 100 points. Also, no instant respawn. It is the best gametype by far in Halo 4.

  1. Rockets spawn too frequently on Landfall.
  2. Please have one one Extraction point up at a time for that game type.

I like the maps a lot but i think on skyline there is way to many power weapons along with OD it just makes it to noob friendly… that map is way to small for everyone to have a power weapons… and i think rockets on landfall spawn way to soon but the maps are really good!!.. I hope they get put into the competitive playlist soo i think they would be really fun with just br no radar and limited OD!! But all and all great maps… it’s a step in the right direction meaning i step into the halo direction
