It really really deters me when I load up infinite and the menu takes ten years to load in any of their menus. It doesn’t matter if it’s multiplayer, armor customization or even seeing the progress of challenges. It’s probably the most frustrating thing about this game.
I take it you play on Xbox One and not on Xbox Series X then? My PC takes around thirty seconds to load to the main menu, but my Series X loads within five seconds.
Meanwhile my Xbox One original struggles to get to the Main menu or to connect to matches.
Halo Infinite was designed for the next generation of Hardwere, so last gen will obviously be sub-par at making it function properly.
Yup but it shouldn’t matter. I literally just sat here for five minutes and I got a “failed to load”.
Lets just look at some basic Xbox specs that Halo Infinite is able to use.
Lets look at RAM as an example.
Xbox One Vanilla offers 8 GB DDR3
Xbox One Slim also offers 8 GB DDR3
Xbox One X offers 12GB GDDR5
Xbox Series S offers 10GB GDDR6
Xbox Series X offers 16 GB GDDR6
Halo Infinite, a game that was designed to be played on the next console generation, is going to be far more taxing on the Xbox One system than it is on the Xbox Series X.
Honestly, if we go by RAM alone, the quality goes from Low-to-High as follows -
Xbox One → Xbox One S → Xbox Series S → Xbox One X → Xbox Series X
Considering how many issues I have playing this game on my Xbox One and how few I have on the Xbox Series X; I wonder how many issues players have with things such as hit-reg inconsistencies might be the blame of a majority of the playerbase is using outdated hardware to play updated software?
It would be akin trying to run Halo 3 from the Xbox Original’s specs.
You are going to have loading issues at the very least and performance issues abound.
Plus, given the reputation of the OG Xbox; you might cause a housefire.
I’m on PC on an SSD and yes the menu is very slow and clunky. It’s annoying.
Yeah, but waiting for a menu to load regardless is irritating especially if you’re just trying to see challenge progress and change weapon colors. gameplay is different but long loading times for just a menu that isn’t doing anything besides sitting still is a joke. My basic living room desktop from 2010 boots up faster than this.
Thank you. I’m not alone.
Newer Xbox titles state a requirement of it being a certain speed of SSD. It won’t let me install a newer Xbox title on external storage unless it matches or surpasses the SSD speed of the internal storage drive.
I wonder if in in the PC optimization process, something was goofed and it allowed for slower SSDs to be used on PCs; considering how most of them are custom jobs and not universal design?
The only thing that seemly loads my game slowly is how fast the game can connect me to their servers. Most of the time it seemingly loads everything fairly quickly.
I play the game on the PC.
I think they should get rid of the boring main menu background that nobody even likes and replace it with a much more aesthetically pleasing dynamic 2D background - which will probably load a lot faster.
They should just make the background a Halo. The boring campaign map does it no justice. keep it simple Halo 1 style, music and all.
Honestly . . . why render a full 3D background when you can just play a video recording of a 3D background?
Record a camera perspective of Zeta Halo or something and have that recording be played without having to spend resourced loading excessive 3D models and slow down our time in menues? Leave the loading of models to the multiplayer menus of lobbies and cosmetics.
A main menu shouldn’t be so hard to load. If OP is having simple menu problems that only happens in Infinite, but is fine on any other game’s menu, its just the game. Not his specs. Because I am the same thing.
OP mentioned egregiously long load times.
Loading menus on my Xbox One takes FOREVER meanwhile on my Series X I am having a SERIOUSLY bad day if my menu takes more than 5 seconds to load to the main menu and more than two to load the cosmetic menu. Otherwise, I hardly see any of the loading screens.
In fact, I didn’t even know that there were dots on the Zeta Halo loading vistas until I decided to play on my Xbox One while visiting my mother’s place and realized that this game DRAGS on last gen consoles.
Can attest to very long load times on the Series X.
When will 343 learn that recycling a Bungie era menu design (preferably Reach) is better than doing whatever they are now
