Slayer Pro / Team Hardcore (Arena)
Featuring : Magnum Starts , no radar , no spartan raam
Why this gametype will be great for the competitive aspect of halo 5,
- Innovation : Spawning with one weapon simply increases incentive to grab a weapon off the ground, making gameplay much more dynamic.
- More skill bases encounters : A person using an Assault rifle as a loadout weapon killing a magnum user is a less skillful battle than if the same person used a magnum the next time, but lost the encounter. An smg or storm rifle is more powerful, but by being a weapon pickup, it is giving a player an advantage over the other. Maintaining an advantage over others is a skill. Spawning with and proactively using an easy to use, powerful weapon like the assualt rifle, isnt.
- Teamwork : No motion sensor means you have to rely on communication with teammates, and having knowledge of spawns and the flow of a map to determine where the enemy.
- Magmum Starts : has a higher skill gap than a br, but dosen’t have nearly the potential to shoot across map, resulting is stalemate gameplay. It has a much higher skill gap tham the assualt rifle, and dosen’t allow you to win engagements without having to contribute more skill like the AR. This results in each kill requiring more effort on average. So there you have it , I hope my reasoning was easy to understand without appearing that i am bragging, or whining. If Arena was to have this integrated as a playlist, this would be a great activity for competitive players in halo 5, while requiring minimal effort to create maximum good results. Thank you for your time and have a good one!
Feel free to argue or state your opinion, all is welcome.
There really are too many pistol elitists on the forums these days. Skill is subjective that can only be impacted by the restrictions or lack there of placed on the subject. Its pretty obvious you simply want a mode that caters your playstyle, judging from your dislike of all things cqc like ARs, ramming, etcetera. It does in fact take skill to close the distance and get the jump on someone using a pistol when yourself has an AR because if they are half good, they’ll get all the headshots before you can even drop their shield. You basically want swat with shields on. Go play swat.

No i basicially think a gamemode that caters to more skill needed to win without a huge leap from what we already play in arena, would be a great idea. But it is not to glorify the magnum. Im implying how spawning with it changes how skillful engagements will be in comparision, that is it. I dont dislike ar, spartan raam, etc. In competitive play i dont believe it should be integraded. You can see i permit picking up automatic weapons BETTER tham the ar, but spawning with one, or a less powerful variant , which is the ar, shouldnt be present in my opinion. And i dont think it takes skill to get the jump on someone and close the gap. Its fairly easy, as i do it myself like everyone.
In this scenario my playstyle is one that dosent prefer automatic weapon starts. In previous halos, precision weapon starts proved to be more competitive than spawning with an automatic, which is why a gametype similiar to mine would he a nice alternative playlist for more competitive players to play, not to change all gamemodes in arena. In halo 3, which was when halo was arguably at its peak, no one respected a person who kills using an Ar, as it was considered “noobish” at competitive play, as much as a person who had a better Br . In this case for halo 5 is the same, but also regards someone having good skill with a br, magnum, etc, when applying that to every other skill, such as map movement , jumps, etc.
I like everything besides the magnum starts. Call me a rebel, but pistol starts belong in CE. Halo 5 is not CE by any means, therefore I would still like the BR starts. Just like in the previous hardcore playlists.
