Magnum Sound

I had play all the Halo’s and Im pretty sure of one thing…
Always the magnum has that sound of weak weapon (Except Halo:CE) and that’s a kind of
I dont know, but I would really like it if the Magnum would have a “heavy” sound in the new Halo 5…
(And I know in the Beta has that weak sound)

Halo: CE should be the de-facto reference for anything the developer does. I think it’s funny how we’ve had five sequels, and barely any of them have approached the quality of weapon animation from the first game.

Well, I guess I’ll admit that the weapon animations for the Forerunner weapons on initial pick-up in 4 are very well done.

The new sound of the Magnun in MCC is by far my favorite.

The magnum does sound futuristic in the new game, but assault rifle sounds even worse than it did in halo 3. Sounds like you shoot popcorn.

Nothing could ever sound as bad as the H3 AR. Nothing.

The Halo 3 BR sure does come close. :stuck_out_tongue: To be fair, most weapons in Halo 3 sound pretty weak.
On-Topic: Halo: CE and Halo: Reach both have great magnum/pistol sounds. I would much rather them use something similar to those sounds for the Halo 5 magnum, rather than that of Halo 2, 3, or 4.

If you watched some new gameplay with no commentary, you’d see how good Halo 5’s pistol sounds. Keep in mind that it isn’t as powerful as it used to be in CE, so they can’t give it a sound that gives a false feel about how powerful it is.

I’ve watched every bit of gameplay that’s been shown off. It’s difficult to hear how any of the weapons sound due to the clicks and bleeps that play each time you land a shot on, or kill, a player. I’d rather they remove those sounds or, at the very least, allow us to toggle them on or off.

EDIT : Also, yes, they absolutely can. Having weapons that sound powerful, whether or not it accurately represents their damage output, enhances the feel of said weapons. Take the Halo 3 BR, for example. It’s arguably the overall best weapon in the game, and yet I feel almost no satisfaction from using it because it sounds like a toy. Strong weapon sounds make the weapons feel more powerful, even if they aren’t, and this is a good thing. Weak weapon sounds can detract from the satisfaction of using a weapon, even if it is strong, and you know that it’s strong.

It sounds a bit too weak for my taste.

Check this one. No commentary and used the pistol several time.

Also, I’m not talking about making strong weapons sound weak, rather making weak weapons sound powerful (i.e. the UMP45 in Counter Strike)

I’m sorry…but they found something.

The pistol sound from CE was literally the same exact sound used for Halo 2 and 3’s pistols. In fact, most of CE and Halo 2’s weapon sounds were used in Halo 3. Reach was where they started changing the sound effects a little, but most of them still sounded close to the originals. Halo 4 changed all the sounds.

something like paaaaammmm xD

As I said, I’ve seen every bit of gameplay, including this one. Like I also said, the clicking and bleeping whenever they land a shot or kill an enemy makes it difficult to hear the sounds of the guns. That’s why I said that I’d rather they remove those sounds effects or allow us to toggle them on or off.

I can hear the weapons’ sounds just fine. you may be having a problem.

the new h5 pistol has a suppressor on the front, or some sort of compensator.

You might, but whenever they land a shot, or kill someone, the clicking and bleeping meant to let them know shots have connected and a kill has been obtained distracts from the gun’s firing sound. It covers it up to a point where I personally can’t hear it as well as I’d like. I like to hear every little nuance, and I can’t do that, or even hear them clearly, whenever they hit or kill someone. Only when they miss am I hearing only the firing sound.

Sounded powerful enough to me.

I don’t think it does mate, just weak sound design.
