Hey, I have been working with some friends to make a machinima called “Custom Games”.
This has been going on for a little more than a month. We already have the whole season 1 script written but episode 2-7 are subject to change. We post official episodes that are connected to the storyline and then we have short skit videos. Any ideas are welcome and advice is also welcome.

A story that is set in a player’s dramatic interpretation of Halo Custom Games is hard. The only ones that seem to have become successful were Matchmaking, Phil and Opus Machinima. Matchmaking and Phil overdramatised the Xbox Live Appeal and made Bungie look like Gods of the Divine while Opus Machinima was an hour long documentary of sorts.
I would say take the safe route and DON’T GIVE IT A STORY
If you don’t give this type of series a story then all you have to focus on is the Cinematography, Characters, Voice Actors and Reception. Giving a story to a Custom Games Machinima Idea will end up being too drawn out. This was a mistake that Matchmaking: Reached has made and so has Pre-Game Lobby. Once the story for Season 1 is finished, the second season’s story will be foreign and forgettable for the audiences.
Don’t weave a story between the episodes… Weave the characters between the episodes…
The characters in the series love to play custom games. Ironically they play matchmaking more and revert to customs at the end of the day. The shorts give viewers an opportunity to see the players outside of the main dialogue because the machinima in some cases is based off of true events and conversations. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, they are both making machinima. Darkspire is active and Pre-Game Lobby’s season 2 hasn’t made an episode in a while.
