Hi everyone, I thought this might be the best place to ask this. I’m currently developing a Machinima series, and I’ve thoroughly read through the Microsoft Game Content Usage Rules about the do’s and do nots. I do have one particular question, that it doesn’t exactly touch up on in detail.
For the sound effects in, say, Halo 3. Is that copyright, and can’t be used in, say, a YouTube ad-revenue video? I know the original score can’t, but sound effects, i.e. An assault rifle firing, is that ok? The rules are normally very specific, it’s just this one concern I have.
Fairly certain it is, since the sounds are in the game itself. I don’t believe anyone’s been tagged for having gun sounds in their works.

Thanks, it was just a concern I had.
