- Am I the only person who misses the human blood and gore? I kind of want to see Halo 5 Guardians with Human blood splats and real explosions > assault bomb etc. > Oddball > KOTH > Race > better lighting etc and graphics > Full customization > Splitscreen > More studio maps > add every game mode that had been previously in other HALO titles…Same thing with TMCC…It would have been nice if included all of the features from past titles including file browser etc…and if more work was put into H2A…as well as REACH and ODST being an expansion…
This quickly got away from being related to rated M, but yes I do miss any and all blood. Halo was never super gorey, but 1-3 compared to 5 were.
That would cool I want to see blood splatter when I punch a grunt.
Not going to lie, I really do miss the blood. Hopefully it will return in Halo 6.

Well that paragraph trailed off immensely. You went from stuff about ESRB’s rating to gametypes and maps to MCC.
Anyways, Most of Halo’s rated M was because of the Flood. Outside of that, there wasn’t much human blood. Mostly the florescent blue Covenant blood.
Halo 4 was rated M because of the scientist who turned to ash.
I thought halo was rated M because of Cortana.

Flood imo is what really gives halo it’s M rating, odst and reach should not have been rated m
Wow, I did not know some of the Halo games were rated M. Yes there’s violence, but you’re saving the world…nay the universe! Not carjacking people and slapping hookers like in GTA.

Come on! You couldn’t see anything. On a serious note, the biggest reason Halo got an M rating was because of the Flood with their dismember-able limbs.
Maybe the ESRB should just stop.
I dont mind less blood, But I dont want Mortal Combat Amounts. TBH i likeit where it is right now, but i would be okay with halo 4 blood.
I’ve seen rental stores place
a rated M sticker over halo 5’s cover.
343 will never make Halo bloody and gory since they are focusing on younger people who will spend their parents money on REQ packs… -_-
Sorry people but the ESRB has just become soft on ratings, they used to automatically give every FPS a M rating without even looking at it.
Some here think the Blood and or the Flood caused the M, but the real answer is the ESRB is a bunch of biased holier than thou busybodies with an axe to grind.
ODST & Reach have no Flood just Blood and they got tagged M, Halo 4 was allegedly almost a T so it’s just the ESRB backing down, but I’ll bet they go back to slapping everything with M soon.
In Aus:
Halo Ce and Halo 2 were rated MA 15+ (Restricted to 15 and over)
Halo 3 and ODST were M
Reach was MA 15+
Halo 5 is M
As contrast, GTA IV was rated MA 15, and GTA V was rated R18+ (restricted to over 18).
Also, M in Aussimply means recommended for mature audiences, so I assume that’s the equivalent of “teen” in the U.S?
These me examples are just to contrast to different methods and regional ratings.
What I miss most about the higher rated games wasn’t just the blood (blood makes the combat more impactful IMO) but the characters using more expressive language (Johnson in C.E and 2 especially). It just overall gave the campaign a greater impact. Now, I’m not asking for gears of war level gore and cursing, no, just at the level it was in CE and 2. It was enough to have a positive impact on the game without going overboard.

This is just not true. You can find shooters from back in the day, around the same time Halo CE was released, with no blood and gore that get the rating of T. Look at all the 007 games.
No blood and gore = No M rating.
Developers aren’t worried about content effecting ratings as much now as they used to. Now it’s more related to political correctness and the fallout of SJW on their products. Games need to now have to have less offensive things like diversity, less gore, violence against women, POC or minorities as main characters/playable characters, less sexualization, etc. Not because ratings and appeal to teenagers (GTA only seemed to be more appealing to teens because of the rating and controversial content) Not to say some developers don’t care and will do it anyway but the Halo franchise has already taken steps in this direction. At least they aren’t hiring guys like this Manveer Heir.

M in the states is 18+…It generally goes from T to M since I don’t believe there are any NC-17 games
All the 360 games were rated M 17+… Original CE I don’t have anymore so I don’t know but all the Xbox 360 Halos were M17+, The rating was lowered to Teen for H5. younger crowd, more game sales. That’s why we see all the little kids under 13 shooting teammates, Spartan charging, and being obnoxious…lol. Imo, they never were gory with green or blue blood, can’t remember which, but the flood being dismembered, scaring the crap out of little kids and the grunts calling you names when you back smacked em’ were the main reason. (love those grunts!) I don’t know if Cortana was an issue. She was “hot” though…lol. Probably why we don’t see the flood anymore.
Even if there was some blood splatter it wouldn’t change the game really. All previous Halos didn’t really deserve a MA rating really. I don’t get why some try and make a big deal out of Halo being T rated now. It’s not like Halo was full on heads getting blown off and blood pouting every where.
