M/K Support in Infinite

Microsoft announced they definitely are releasing mouse and keyboard support for XB1, no more teasing, genuine support is coming. But they said it was up to the developers to support it in their games or not.

We also know that Infinite is coming out for PC alongside xbox which means there’s a possibility there’ll be some form of cross-play.

We all know they’d have to implement cross-play carefully because PC players have a huge advantage using m/k. If 343i added m/k support for the xbox version, xbox players could actually stand a chance and actually have fun. Now obviously if there will be cross-play I’d hope they’d make it optional so you can play with only your own platform if you wish to, solving the PC advantage issue. But then there’d be a problem of the xbox m/k players having an advantage over xbox controller players, and now we’ve got a balancing problem again.

Would they have to add another option you can choose to only play with players using your own peripheral method? That seems the only fair way. But then population becomes an issue, all these player sifting options would really thin it out.

So I guess what I’m asking is, do you want them to add m/k support for Infinite on xbox?

EDIT: tsassi made a good point I overlooked. If there was a peripheral option you wouldn’t even need the platform option, so ignore that issue.

This should be the only option. After all, there’s no advantage to any particular platform, just the input method. Therefore there is no reason to allow players to only restrict to their own platform, because there is no issue as long as everyone in the match uses the same input device.

Of course, since that would remove the hypothetical advantage of PC, and would enable more players to use their preferred input method. There’s really no reason not to.

I totally overlooked that. It wouldn’t make sense to have both platform and peripheral options, would really just need the peripheral one.
