M&K Play Experience vs Controller Aim-Assist

I know this topic has been debated across a lot of different games, and most of the time it feels like a waste of time. BUT, in this game, I truly and honestly feel like the aim-assist in this game is too heavily slated in favor of console players.

I plugged in a controller, and my 1v1’s with the sidekick and the AR were so much easier to take down opponents/hit shots. I did suffer in my 180 turns against players, and overall movement which I feel more smooth/faster on M&K. However, I am routinely getting frustrated by the lack of hitmakers I get on the pistol. I keep trying to turn settings down or adjust sensitivity to get a better hit reg, but I am struggling to win 1v1’s where I have the first shot & therefore should have the advantage.

I plugged in the controller, and while my movement is crap, my 1v1’s go better. I’m not sure if I have to grind out the controller in this game to get better. But does anything share this opinion? I know in Halo 3 MCC, the controller was considered better, but I was hoping that was just because it was never truly developed for M&K.

It’s important to note, I’m not trying to create an argument but genuinely looking for feedback from PC players. Is anyone having success on M&K’s? Have you switched to the controller? What DPI/sensitivities are you running if you are having success on M&K?

I was extremely excited for this game, and I’m becoming more and more frustrated by not dropping shots that I feel I am aiming fine on the mouse. While I aim on the controller and feel less accurate but actually hitting.

I’ve been getting a bit frustrated myself today. Feels like hit reg is worse today for whatever reason.

The game doesn’t run all that great at the moment, so maybe that’s a part of it. Some people kill me so fast with the AR and it never feels that quick for me. I’ll hit someone standing still and they still won’t die that fast. It literally takes the entire mag. Feels like we’re playing different games or on different servers. I don’t get it.

That’s the problem with Aim Assist though, it doesn’t care about what it looks like. Shots will register because it tracks hit boxes, not player models.

Any cross play game is going to feel this way. Aim Assist is built to cater to the masses and make them come back to keep playing. MKB players are not the majority player base, I found that typically to have an even experience you need to stick to games like valorant and CSGO, or where the gun play stands out ala tarkov, and that is not Halo.

i made a post around this exact concept where i tested both input methods and tracked my findings from Weapon Drills you can see it here:

TLDR: Sidekick and BR felt better on controller, if I spent a week practicing on controller I think I could outshine my K&M performance and that’s not a good thing driving people away from their preferred input.

This is exactly where I am at right now. Debating just grinding out controller for the rest of the flight because of it.

There’s no aim assist on controller in pvp.

M&K player here. Just switched to PC about a year and a half ago. I’m no aim god, but I’m pretty well adjusted to M&K at this point. Can’t even play in controller anymore cause the right stick feels too clunky for aiming.

So far I haven’t lost many fights I feel like I didn’t deserve to lose. I usually at least go positive 9/10 games. The thing about aim assist is all it does is help you aim. At a certain point you should be able to beat (or at least match) the people using it if you are able to aim well enough yourself. No matter how aggressive the aim assist is.

Personally, I suggest spending a good 20-30 hours in Kovaak. It’s a good aim trainer (don’t use Aim Labs, I have personally spent 75 hours in it and got more out of Kovaak in 5 hours). Also, go suffer in Valorant for a while. It’ll make you “git gud” fast. I use 1000 dpi, 2 sens for Halo. It’s a slower sensitivity, but I prefer that on mouse because you gain more control over your mouse and can still make quit turns by flinging your wrist across the table.
